I go every single time i visit SF and drive out Stinson or Bolinas. The fish is so fresh and the menu couldn't be better in any way.
Good coffee nearby.

An old time favorite seafood place. Consistently great quality, service and ambiance. A very casual California at-its-best restaurant experience. Indoor / outdoor restaurant seating (outdoor allows dogs), or beer / wine at the bar.

Nice outdoor atmosphere if weather is good. But otherwise, quite a long wait - had to order in line and ended up waiting a little over an hour for food to arrive - which was okay. Their fryer also broke so no signature fish and chips. No server came to check on us ever either…..not sure I’d go back unless there was no wait and kitchen is at full capacity

I’ve been to Hook Fish several times in the past but had a very disappointing experience this past Labor Day weekend. I hope that management can better define and maintain quality standards even when the restaurant becomes more crowded.

We ordered the ceviche chips and the grilled fish burritos. The chips in the past had been delightful —clearly fresh and warm, with a light crisp and flakiness that melted in your mouth. In contrast, our experience this weekend was the opposite. The chips tasted stale, evidently made far in advance judging from the stale hardness and dull flavor.

The fish burritos were even more disappointing. The fish tasted overcooked: tough, chewy and lacking flavor. The composition of the burrito was also poorly made; the ingredients were not evenly distributed, such that in one bite you only got cabbage, another bite you only got fish, etc. It was definitely one of the worst burritos I’ve had in a while.

I’ll assume attribution for this poor execution due to the Labor Day crowds, but our disappointment was only compounded after waiting over 75 mins for an extremely mediocre meal. If customers are going to wait that long for a meal, one would hope that they would be delighted and rewarded for their patience, not left dejected by a reduction in quality.

Great venue (inside and outside options (with heaters and nice festive lighting)), GREAT food (great fresh fish with many options for type and meals)) and super friendly, professional gracious staff! And huge kudos to Robert, who, after mistakes on our end (we mistakenly placed order at their SF venue) quickly and very graciously addressed our situation, replaced our order, seated us and even comp'd our beverages. I've been a big fan, and am now an evangelist!! LOVE HOOK FISH!!

A great experience all around. Sat down at the bar, ordered, paid, and immediately got our drinks. Went outside to order food and told them we were at the bar. The cerviche appetizers came out quickly then our meal a few moments later. Smooth operation. Service, food, ambience were all top notch.

Food never came despite asking more than 3 times. Took over an hour and just decided to get a refund

Food was good. The Oysters were fresh. the food presentation looked and tasted good. Service was alright overall spent about 20min in and out.

On the weekend don’t even bother, too packed to get a seat. But the food is great
