We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday evening, and within the next hour, nearly every table in the restaurant was occupied! Our waiter was exceptionally polite and patient, answering numerous questions we had about the menu. After hiking the Wolf Ridge Trail, we were quite hungry and looking for something healthy and nourishing. We ended up ordering the tempura udon and the chicken nabe. Initially unfamiliar with nabe, our waiter kindly explained that it was a type of soup. While both dishes contained broth, chicken, and various vegetables, they differed significantly in flavor. The udon featured a sweeter broth, whereas the nabe was more savory. Personally, I found the nabe more delicious, but both dishes were satisfying. I left the restaurant feeling full and content.

Had a great dinner with my mother tonight!!! It was the first time I had sushi and it was the California roll. I love the taste. The service was highly professional. Being here you got to love an authentic Japanese ambiance. Can't wait to eat here again!!!

Best sushi in Marin. I've been going here for 15+ years and it maintains its high-quality fish and incredibly diverse and affordable menu. Highly recommend.

Samurai is our favorite sushi spot in Marin! My fiancé and I frequent go. Every time we come in the staff behind the sushi counter welcome us and say goodbye. Yes they are packed, understandably, and it's also a small restaurant. The Stinson Maki roll is something we order every time! I highly recommend it. The staff are great, especially given how busy they always are. I understand everyone has a different palette and occasionally bad experiences happen, but some of these one star reviews seem condescending and entitled. I look forward to my next visit to Samurai!

I went on a first date at this establishment last week. I drove about an hour to get to the restaurant, and IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH the drive! Parking was ample, right outside the restaurant. We didn't realize they accepted reservations, so we were walk-ins. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated on what was obviously a very busy Friday, and we were pleased at the short wait time. Staff is super friendly and engaging. Very knowledgeable about the menu. We sat at the sushi bar and had a few enjoyable and informative conversations with one of the sushi masters who had been making sushi for over 20 years. Our food was simply divine! I had the salmon mustard salad.....which was TO DIE FOR! We also had the Lion King roll.....PHENOMENAL! We ordered more, and everything that we shoved into our hungry mugs was DELECTABLE! You will be truly thrilled after a visit to this restaurant. You will leave wanting to come back for more!

This is my favorite place to eat of all time. The quality of food is impeccable and service is the best I’ve ever seen, the atmosphere really talks about how this is a sushi restaurant named samurai. I LOVE IT.

I just enjoyed a very enjoyable dinner at Samurai tonight but as I walked back to my car, the Manager approached me in the front seat of my car angry that I had parked in a space he says that should be blocked off but was not. When I parked it was the only space in their back lot open with the cones to the far left side so I assumed it was a good space to park. I'm a long time customer but the way he accused me of parking in a space he says is not a space but should be coned off but wasn't was disrespectful in my opinion. I'm a longtime customer and supported your restaurant regularly through the pandemic. There were two workers sitting outside when I parked and they could have said something to me about the parking space but chose not to say anything. He should be mad at them and not me. I did not move the cones and he accused me that I did move them. He should ask his employees why they didn't help their customer.

Was here when it first opened back around 1980. Just went back and no Japanese sushi guys left. They have been replaced. Full bate & switch deal with the menu prices listed on their website vs. the prices in the restaurant. Complete burn with nigiri about 25% more and the sashimi about 50% more than on their website. $10 on their site and $15 at the restaurant. Hey Samurai, how about taking 5 minutes to update the prices on your website so you do not burn your customers with the false advertising !! We got up and left.

Take out orders beware! We have been loyal customers of Samauri for 15 years, eating there once a week on a regular basis. Even through the pandemic, staffing challenges, long wait times, inflation price increases, we were there. On our visit this week, I noticed the bill was higher than normal (we order the same thing each week), so I asked for the itemized receipt. Lo and behold there was a $10.40 charge for takeout. We asked what the charge was for and they said… the paper containers. Wait, what? You mean the paper container that cost you maybe .30 cents? As a reasonable human being, and loyal patron, I’m willing to put up with a lot, but this was the straw that broke the camels back. I’m sorry Samurai, but you’ve grossly miscalculated this one. We will not be returning, nor will I be recommending you anymore. Price gouging is never OK.

You seem to never have the staff to take online orders so why not remove that option from your website so next time I don't waste 10 minutes choosing items. Frustrating.
