This store is awesome staff is chill except when management is around I have noticed. I deliver for door dash from here and personally shop here. A couple of the coolest employees are no longer there sadly. You can feel the hostility in the store and the stress on employees. It's sad to see management handle employees the way this store does. It's no right.

Most of the employees are super cool and friendly! I'd try to avoid talking to management. With a couple of them it gets you nowhere fast! Always has decent stock! Open late, long lines, awesome deals! The deliRocks! Coinstar, DMV KIOSK, and a bit more. You need to try the CheeseTOTS!!!

My experience at this Safeway has not been great. I came from out of state to visit my daughter, and she took me to Safeway located at 2001 McHenry Avenue. The first problem was the clerk who assisted other customers, my daughter was already waiting to be checked out. The second issue was with the security guard not being professional while working. I watched while he continued to belittle my daughter. I am a senior citizen, with a heart condition. It was really upsetting to see my daughter come back to her car in tears. The store manager Lydia was contacted, but she wasn't very helpful. She decided to take the word of her employees, instead of looking at the whole picture.
This is in response to "The Owner" that responded to my review. I was posting for my daughter since her post is not visible to the public and she is the one that experienced this poor treatment by the employees, including security that was hired by this Safeway. It's unfortunate that the manager of this Safeway has chosen not to be more professional in her responses and ban my daughter from shopping at this Safeway.

DO NOT SHOP HERE! THEY REFUSE TO MAKE MY REVIEW PUBLIC. THEY ARE TRYING TO COVER UP PREJUDICE AND DISCRIMINATION. I POSTED A LONG REVIEW WITH PHOTOS FROM HOW I WAS TREATED AT THAT LOCATION ON 5/24/2024. I was disrespected, teared with prejudice and discrimination. DON'T BE FOOLED. My 68 year old mother was contacted before I was and so am the victim. I still have not been contacted by the higher ups like I was promised by store manager Lydia. I will continue to EXPOSE this location and Safeway as a company. Even if I have to go through 100 cell phones and 100 Google accounts to do so??♀️??♀️ It's sad that I have to use my son's cell phone to expose what they are trying to cover up. Do not trust this location AND the employee and security guard in my photos. If they don't try and hide it again. You guys won't get away with this one SAFEWAY ON MCHENRY 2001 MCHENRY AVE.

I enjoy Safeway, except for their Friday specials. Chicken $5.00 for 8 pieces. Poor planning - they wait until the run out before putting more chicken in the oven. They don't clean the pans, just dump more chicken in the pans.Come after 5, good luck finding any.of their specials, especially in the bakery section. After today, June 7th, I decided to pay a little more at Save Mart
Clean store. Friendly workers. Great selection of items.
