The Stonehouse Restaurant offers a memorable dining experience with exceptional service and a stunning setting. The property is truly beautiful, with cobblestone paths lined with mature olive trees and a chef's garden, creating a cozy and elegant atmosphere perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. Guests can enjoy a walk through the gardens and take pictures after their meal. The restaurant features interesting food concepts, such as oysters enjoyed with strawberry mignonette and Korean tacos with tender, flavorful meat, although the thin tortilla can fall apart easily and the kimchi has little gochujang flavor. The standout dishes include the abalone and oyster appetizers, black cod entree, Steak Diane flambéed tableside, veal schnitzel, and chocolate Crème brûlée. The black cod is good, but there was a recent report of difficulty changing the fish order shortly after ordering, and a steak Diane with a gummy texture in the middle, which was unusual for the price. The lobster dim sum was a fun idea but came out dry and overcooked, with the beurre blanc sauce not adding much. The BLT was described as average. A highlight is the tableside smoked cocktail, smoked with different woods to complement the drink, providing a fun and memorable show. Service is outstanding, with attentive staff offering constant beverage refills and course resets that enhance the experience. Guests can learn about the history and gardens during property tours and visit the wine cellar with a knowledgeable guide, adding to the overall enjoyment. The Speakeasy offers themed drinks and live piano music, creating a lively atmosphere, although some guests felt staff were more attentive to regulars. Overall, The Stonehouse Restaurant combines beautiful surroundings, interesting food, and top-notch service, making it a must-visit spot in Santa Barbara for a special dining experience.
