This is a gem in the rough place. Super enjoyable atmosphere. There are tons of chinese restaurants around the corner, most of them are over priced and below average quality. This place is reasonably priced, easy parking and good quality food. My favorite place to hang out for lunch of dinner.

Inside the Courtyard by Marriott in Monterey Park, there’s a Chinese restaurant that’s perfect for family gatherings or business lunches/dinners (they also have private rooms you can reserve).
This spot used to be Chef Tony, but it has now changed to Crystal Palace.
The menu is extensive with lots of variety, flavors were great, and the staff were also very friendly. Before serving, they announced the dish name and gave a quick intro about the cooking style, which added a nice touch.
Prices are on the slightly higher side, but the food is delicious and the whole dining experience feels refined and classy. Definitely a place my family and I would come back to.

Dim sum were good. Price is reasonable. Consider they were so busy, the service was acceptable. However they have a two hours limit on your stay. I am not used to this policy!

We had made an online reservation for a party of 10 one week ago and had received the online confirmation the same day. However, when we arrived at the restaurant (everyone arrived 10 minutes early), the receptionist (AKA the manager) rudely and unreasonably denied us of our reservation, simply stating that ‘there is no table available’ and that they do not accept Google reservation. Our party name and party number was clearly written on his list when we arrived, so he was very well aware about our reservation beforehand. When we showed him the online confirmation receipt, he continued to mistreat us without any words of apology or explanation. We had two 85+ year old elders who had been waiting this whole time, and by 12:35pm we had to leave and switch to another restaurant because everyone including the elders were starving.
Everyone was appalled at how we received such rude, unprofessional and unfair treatment from a restaurant that is under the well-known Marriott group. We were all very disappointed.
This was not the experience we were expecting. The first thing we noticed is the acoustics are horrible... do not come here to have a meaningful conversation. The restaurant is way too loud, thanks to poor sound dampening. Aside from that the menu is standard. The dim sum selection is nothing special, but their prices are an average of $2 higher per item than what you will find in the immediate area ..and in a few cases, significantly higher. The dim sum was pretty disappointing... mediocre at best. The pan fried radish cake was essentially watery and textureless (it looked appealing until you attempted to take one off the plate and eat). The pork in their char siu bao was equally disappointing. The bao itself was fine, but the pork tasted flavorless. The French style baked pork bao was a huge disappointment. The dough was super thin unlike we've seen at any restaurant that offers this item, and the amount of pork inside was laughably minimal. The one item that was remotely ok was the siu mai..it didn't amaze us, but it was passable. The service here is fine and the staff are actually easy to get hold of if you need something. But, we can't see coming back here unless there are changes made in the quality of the food, and the atmosphere.

Not as crowded and loud as other Dim Sum place, bright clean and modern dinning room and above average dim sum.

Dim sum is 5 stars: The Dim Sum is okay.
Dinner is 1 stars: There are not many items on the dinner menu on the menu. The dinner menu is full of unhealthy stuff with only one healthy item. They have the “automatic service fee” after paying. They can validate your parking fee if you are staying at the hotel if you eat here. Most of the food here are fried.
Overall, the service was excellent.

4 stars for aspiration and creativity. Remind me of The God Of Cookery ( Stephen Chow 1996), the abalone sticky rice has no abalone taste, the scallop in scallop shumai must be on vacation. It is nowhere to be found in shumai. It should have been placed on top visible to my eyes and hungry mouth. The house special fried rice is nothing special. Would have been sparkling flavorful if fried with bbq pork. The tea cup is stained with yesterday tea stain. Nasty. Let's say this is not a cheap place for dim sum and I expect a little more for the money spent. Next time I hope I can rate you a 5-star review.

Restaurantji Recommends
Chef Tony closed and this new Crystal Palace came to replace Chef Tony. There are similarities in the dishes but the quality is 50% worse than before. The meats and shrimps are not thawed enough and the seasoning is just not there. Prices went up but the service and food quality became worse. Wouldn’t recommend. It is not Chef Tony we loved before.

My friend invited me to a dinner here and everything was so good! Crystal Palace took over the Chef Tony location. They not only have dimsum all day along with various dishes, but they also added carpaccio to their appetizer menu! It was delicious! So were the shishito peppers! The French style diced beef was so tender and flavorful. Hubby really liked the vermicelli with beef and pickles, pickles were so good! So was the crispy layer! I really liked their spicy wontons and of course salted egg shrimp. The dessert was delish! Loved golden lava bun and bunnies! Will definitely be back! I’m eyeing the oxtail and whole pumpkin, lobster salad and Peking duck 2 way which you need to order a day ahead. Their house special chicken is also an order ahead item that’s supposed to be really good too. Service was excellent and the ambiance is set for fine dining with so private rooms as well.

We didn't know what to expect from this place. It was raining and we didn't want to go out into the city. We ordered several items, and they were not good. This was Monterey Park, so Asian cuisine was supposed to be top-notch. The mapo tofu was pretty bad, and the dimsum was cold. We ordered to-go, so we didn't expect it to be steaming hot, but they should not be cold either. It wasn't even crowded, but it still took half an hour to get our food. Perhaps it was just an off day.
Great dim sum
Chef Tony Dim Sum offers a welcoming and lively dining experience, with service that makes you feel right at home. The dim sum is decent and served promptly, though the real highlight is the warm hospitality. Yes, it can get a bit noisy, but that’s part of the authentic Cantonese yum cha vibe! The restaurant is clean and conveniently located, especially for hotel guests. A solid choice for a casual, satisfying dim sum meal.
