The restaurant boasts an excellent atmosphere and a breathtaking view. The salad bar was a high point: fresh and abundant. Unfortunately, everything else was a major letdown. We chose from the "Chart Your Course" selections (prime rib and lava cake) and ordered a specific 2019 Raymond Merlot to go along. The server, Eric, delivered a different vintage, 2022. The vintage is important in that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and a milestone birthday for my wife and we intended to spend $90-$100. It took 15 minutes to confirm the 2019 was out of stock, and the replacement wine didn't arrive until we had already finished half of our prime rib. The food itself was flawed: my prime rib was medium, not medium-rare, and the mini lava cakes were served with completely melted ice cream. The most frustrating aspect was the service recovery. The server never offered a single apology for the wine substitution, the significant delays, or the food errors. The manager was not involved at any point. The lack of regret or ownership for the oversights by the server, especially passing off the wrong wine—is deeply disappointing and unacceptable.

Great service and the food was good. The choice of music seemed more for dancing; perhaps some jazz would be more appropriate for the serene environment?

From the minute we walked in the minute we left everything was amazing. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Food came out hot. The portions were not to little or to much. Highly recommend The Chart House.

It was a pretty restaurant with nice views of the bay. There was two of us, our entrées were salmon and nut crusted mai mai. For desert we had key lime pie and a tasting of three different crème brûlée. Everything was delicious.

We came for our 15th wedding anniversary & requested the corner table for the view - and it was wonderful. The restaurant was beautiful & the food was AMAZING. I had the lobster & crab risotto & my goodness, was it decadent. My husband got the swordfish & it was the best he'd ever had. The appetizers were spot on & so was the desserts. Our menus had Happy Anniversary printed on them with our name! HOW SPECIAL. The service was not super attentive though. She never came around to ask us how our drinks were, if we wanted anything else, how are our food, etc. Other than that, the ambiance & food was so good, we'd definitely come back.

Beautiful spot. Good crab cake sandwich. Poor service. Limited brunch options. Weak coffee that seemed an afterthought. Either decide you are doing brunch well or don't do it all.

From the moment we stepped through the door, The Chart House made our 28th wedding anniversary feel truly special. A warm greeter welcomed us immediately and escorted us to the host stand, where the staff—knowing we had a brief wait for our table—kindly invited us to enjoy a cocktail at the bar. (Pro tip: that small gesture set the tone for the entire evening.) When our table was ready, we were led to a window seat with a breathtaking, unobstructed view of Monterey Bay at dusk—pure magic. We had mentioned in our reservation that we'd just renewed our vows, and the team went above and beyond to celebrate with us. The food was outstanding from start to finish: silky sautéed mushrooms, perfectly crisp crab cakes, classic Caesar salads, and an absolute standout bowl of New England clam chowder that I'm still daydreaming about days later (when in Monterey, you simply must try it). My King Salmon was fresh, flawlessly seasoned, and cooked to perfection—flaky and buttery with a gorgeous sear. My husband's seafood pasta was so good he declared he could eat it every single night for the rest of his life (high praise from someone who rarely repeats a dish!). The cherry on top—literally—was when two servers surprised us with a complimentary chocolate-coffee ice cream cake on an Oreo crust, complete with a candle and warm anniversary wishes. That thoughtful touch brought tears to my eyes and made an already wonderful evening unforgettable. Every member of the staff was attentive, genuinely kind, and made us feel like the only guests in the room. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. If you're in Monterey and want impeccable seafood, stunning views, and service that makes you feel truly celebrated, The Chart House is a must. Five stars isn't enough—thank you for making our renewed vows even sweeter! ❤️

Server was nice, but I was disappointed that we went offered bread although other tables were offered bread, and there was a table behind us that was very unruly and kept swearing throughout the whole night which kind of was a downer for our anniversary night.

The Chart House atmosphere is simply amazing with exquisite decor and beautiful view of the bay. A couple of my party enjoyed their meals. However, I have been on a quest for a good French dip sandwich and to my disappointment, the Chart House was one. The bread was over toasted and the prime ribs slices was quite dry with very little flavor to savor and the au jus just as bland. Hopefully, they can improve. I have dined in the Chart House for several years and their other dishes are quite good, especially their seafood and steaks.

It showed we cancelled this reservation but we were indeed there and ate at the bar. So you should get credit for the reservation

Our favorite restaurant to visit when we are in town. Great food. Great staff and amazing views. We saw otters, dolphins and seals

Another wonderful experience at the Chart House! We sat at the window with an exceptional view of the ocean with wildlife and kayaks going by. The Not so traditional chicken and waffles was amazing! Our server was polite and attentive without being intrusive. This is definitely our favorite place for brunch in Monterey!

This is the best Chart House I have been to and the staff was outstanding. I love in Southern California and will cone back to this location the next time I visit. I had a seafood special that was great.
