Wanted to grab a snack but ended up ordering dinner. The menu was a bit overwhelming with plenty of options. Since the original plan was to get sushi, we got the Chirashizushi (sashimi over a bed of sushi rice), rainbow roll, ocean sushi roll, and California roll (for our son). I will start with the sushi melted in freshness! I knew at my first bite we were going to be satisfied with our meals. The sashimi dish was a flavorful combination, and the other rolls were delicious!! Our son loved the California roll as he ate all 8 rolls to himself. Must have been good. Another place we will frequent when visiting Monterey. Next time, I may try other dishes, but may be hard since we enjoyed the fresh sushi so much!

I've been a loyal customer here for as long as 8 years. It was a slow evening before the late rush, having only one couple already eating inside the establishment- we were the first one inside to order food before the place started to fill up. Ordering only two entrees and a roll. Yet- somehow we were the last one to get served our food (45 minutes later). I expressed that I was confused that our food came out last -The cashier (Lily) argumentatively blamed us for not informing her that we were on a timed schedule and told us that in the future we should call ahead of time to order our food as if it were our fault; Maybe tell your customers that it would take nearly an hour to get their food. (I also work in the food industry.) Won't be back as long as that employee is still around. Enjoy the cash tip for your terrible service.

This is our family's favorite sushi place around town. Simple, yet delicious! Fresh sushi and nigiri without the unnecessary fluff. The house salad dressing is also delicious, with a hint of wasabi. It's my favorite go-to salad. They have an assortment of Japanese snacks and drinks conveniently available as well. Service is always great! The staff are friendly and helpful.

Great neighborhood place with plenty of Japanese choices.Hubby had the salmon bento and I had the chirashi. Both were fine but the hubby could have finished his dinner before I got mine, but he politely grazed and shared with me.

I think this might've been the best sushi I've ever had. It's a small place, but we got ours to go, parked by the beach, and had a little picnic. We got 3 rolls, and they were all excellent. We'll be back next time we're in town!

This review is for the Monterey Ocean Sushi Deli. There is an Ocean Sushi in PG but cannot vouch for that one. I ONLY go to the one on Webster in Monterey. Japanese and Indian cuisine are my two favorites. So much so I have contemplated moving to Japan just so I could dine happy daily. Of the Japanese restaurants in our area Ocean Sushi in Monterey is my go to for some of my All-Time favorite meals and is my #1 favorite Japanese restaurant! I started frequenting Ocean Sushi after a friend (who is Japanese) took me here 15 years ago or so. And it's been one of my top 5 Monterey restaurants ever since (as a local). I love their sushi, Inari, and hot meals, udon, esp curry udon, yakisoba, etc. but 95% of the time I crave and drive out of my way for the Teriyaki Red Snapper special. Words can't convey my love for this meal. Would go into obsessive detail about the savory deliciousness of the marinated red snapper, great miso soup or incredible salad dressing (what is in that dressing!!!! I love it so much) but I am late for an errand. Anyway Love LOVE LOVE Ocean Sushi - Monterey Store. GO! Enjoy just don't sell out the Teriyaki Red Snapper or I'll .

Perfect hole in the wall Japanese spot that we love. My husband and I seek out places like these and this specific one hit the ball out of the park. Great quality such friendly service and such extensive menu options. We ordered up a storm from the sashimi plate, miso soups (love the different size options), udon soup, hand rolls, furo maki, and so much more. The cashiers are so sweet and helpful. The menu is quite extensive and can be a little overwhelming and they took the time to help us figure out exactly what to order based on what we described we liked.Kid-friendliness: High chairs, plenty of reasonable options for kids, we got my 15 month old, a cucumber, avocado, roll, and a soup, and then modified it so he could eat it
