Where to start? The owner greeted us with open arms and even fed us! Vibes were vibing and the time was flying. Bartenders George and Dj had excellent service, place was packed and they were still quick and friendly. Got out of there much later than expected! We love the compact disco.

Went here on a weekend trip. Was very quiet when we went in and not too many people but there should be. It's tiny but has a great vibe and cool atmosphere. Maybe just the night we went in but had lotta potential. I don't know if it is more lively other nights but I'd pop in and see my next visit. Either way they make good cocktails.

Hi, I love the club in my opinion the tax and tip is so small ppl complain about $2.00 come on I mean really I say it's just sa y business with the verbal abuse the employees get I think it should be higher love you Guys thank you for this place

This place was less than fun. The idea is amazing and the music was ...alright but the spot never had more than a sprinkle of people and on the weekends they automatically add in a tip based on your bill which leaves you helpless to provide a tip based on your experience. I'd love to come back again maybe when the spot is ready to provide the vibes promised !

Was charged a $15-20 cover charge and tips added to every drink i ordered (so leave an open tab if you dont wnt to get charged 20%) each drink. But place was probably the best you could get in Monterey area

There is finally a spot where the music, the people and the venue all match up to make a magical night. I haven’t found so many house heads in one spot in a hot minute but the two times I’ve been there and going back tonight have been utmost positive experiences. At the door you will be told no photography and at first I was why not? Not that I take pics of everything but just never heard it from a doorman. So people can be themselves and DANCE!!! That is surely what I did!!! I will believe I’ve found my go to spot for safe space to dance where I don’t have to worry about getting shot, stabbed or judged.

Funny how most of people who gave this place 5 stars have only given one review. Makes me think the owners make fake accounts to boost their almost always empty venue. I give this place about 3 months before they spend all their money and close their doors. Thats what you get for not letting me in cause “I dress like a thug”
EDIT per Yelp Guidelines: $10 entrance fee and the bartenders here takes 20% after tax from everyone here who buys a drink every time you order. They took my card, ran it and added on a tip without my consent without informing me about it. They tried to wave it through saying their printer wasn't working so they couldn't provide a receipt. I had to ask for mine, because other people with me stated this practice was happening throughout the night, even with cash. I specifically told them I didn't consent to it and they said it was what they always do on the weekend, and they are entitled to it. Bartender blatantly lied to my face. As owner states that, " 'BIG sign on the bar '20% GRATUITY ADDED TO EVERY BILL AFTER 8PM,' " yet the bartenders are unable to point that out when asked, along with the bouncers, who were very transparent and aware of your rules, but they are unaware of the tip policy or any knowledge of any posted sign. It only took 3 visits, one credit card transaction, and other people were there to tell me that they were doing this.

I believe in supporting local small businesses, and my review came off much harsher than intended. It might have just been an off night when I went, so my advice would be to check Compact Disco for yourself! My personal opinion is simply that, nothing more...

As a queer person in Monterey that loves good music, dancing and community — this place is amazing. The DJs are all stars, the service is great, and it is *safe.* It’s the only place I feel comfy heading to by myself and just dancin’ the night away at.

I went to compact disco. It was early. Drinks are great. Later got very busy. I left my coat there. And have been calling about it. And drove by. I haven't heard a word about it. Just call and say yes we have it or no we don't. Customer service/ Thank you DonaldG for reaching out to me. You're hilarious!
