Ordered an appetizer of calamari and the taco salad. I've had belly issues since eating the calamari and didn't eat the taco salad. The only good thing with the taco salad was the shell. It was filled with lettuce and beef. No beans, rice, tomatoes or any other "salad" options. I took it home to fix, but once I got sick from the funny calamari, I threw it out. Big disappointment.

Thank you for your response. As a local CPA that handles multiple local restaurants, my clients would have 3 page menus if they listed every ingredient for every entree. A Hamburger comes with a bun, no need to list. Taco Salads 99% of the time start with a layer of warm beans on top of the shell followed by rice. Then go from there and have some creative fun. No need to list. It's a standard. Looking at your other reviews, many people are not happy with this menu option. Use these reviews as a tool instead of faulting your customers. Either way, fix it or remove the taco salad.

I think your biggest issue is serving, what appears to be frozen calamari sticks with falling off breading on Cannery Row. Even if it wasn't frozen, it tasted like it. CANNERY ROW!!!!

And, the food didn't sit. I only ate the calamari at your location. I was with my little sister's husband and children, my baby sister died 10/7 and we were heading to her funeral. Half way through the funeral is when I got sick. Threw out the taco salad thing when I got home.

I have done hospitality for race teams for 40 years and bring all my client race teams there when they are in town, but that was before covid and the restaurant beared a different name. It was amazing and we've had really fun times. But I won't be returning or recommending your location. There was a reason there was a line out of every other Cannery Row restaurant except yours-you had 3 tables occupied. Again, thanks you for your response.

Walking by went in we saw some empty pool tables , and went in for a quick game,

Was with a big group, seated outside. Service might have been the worst that I have ever seen. They forgot to take my tables order, then they took it 10 minutes later, but they forgot to take my order, and it took almost 15 minutes after everyone at the other tables got their food for me to get mine. This was two years ago, and I hope there has been a change in service at The Salty Seal.

we travel the country for my husband's career so when we arrived in the area we decided to look for a nice place to dine for dinner.
When we first arrived, we were greeted immediately by the amazing hostesses at the door. We decided to sit at the bar to have a few drinks prior to being seated at the table we reserved.
The gentleman working the bar was new and had no clue how to make drinks and didn't bother to ask for help.
He made me a martini and didn't know how much vodka to put in it. He just kind of sat there confused, and the drink was awful. When you pay over 20, you don't want a perfect drink. You expect it.
It was the end of the night, and one of the staff members kept coming behind the bar and complaining to the gentleman about all the work she was doing and had to do because he was new. She was telling him if the manager came back to tell him she did this and tell him she did that, it was unbelievably unprofessional, and we felt awkward just sitting there listening to it. It happened the whole time we sat at the bar.
We were seated in back and loved the environment as far as Decor view etcetera despite being night time so we couldn't really see anything it was still a lovely environment. Again it was later in the evening and people were hustling and bustling to get the heck out of there as fast as possible .
Our waiter treated us shortly after being seated. He didn't offer drinks he didn't offer water he didn't offer anything except to drop off menus and leave.
He was quick to finish our sentences and appeared to just want to get us out of there so he can go home also. From the reviews online I guess we thought it was a nicer place.
Turns out it was a decent meal at best with poor service in a lovely environment. I've never felt so rushed and so pressured by what appeared to be annoyed staff.
Definitely was our 1st and last experience there.

We had a great time here, the people were friendly, they have 2 pool tables and dart boards, 2 bars and live music in the back.

I didn't try the food, so I can't rate it, but I will update this post on my next visit!

Very nice pub with a beer garden in the inner courtyard, lovingly designed, very rustic. Prices are of course rather high for Cannery Row, but it's a nice break from the hustle and bustle of tourists on the street. As usual, very nice and friendly staff. Sharing portions is no problem.
