It’s really great place!, a perfect balance of atmosphere. I had the pork sliders and they were really freakin good, with a Modelo!, it was perfect. Also had a SLO-Brew Blood Orange Hefeweizen soooo tasty, highly recommend. The service was fantastic!, our waitress was phenomenal!.
Come after 5 to get the off menu. I have had rack of lamb many times and often disappointed. This was either the top or berley the second best rack of lamb I have ever had. What took it over the top was the bbq. The flavor of the BBQ was so amazing.
Wonderful food, lovely wines. We frequent local restaurants many times during the week to avoid the tourists! Large drawback with Stax is the days they are open... only weekends. Very limited time frame to dine here so we seldom go. Perhaps consider adding one or two additional evenings?

Expect to spend $40-60 per person on average. The ambiance features high tables, a sofa seating area, and Spanish guitar music, creating a laid-back vibe. The service is outstanding with a friendly manager/server, and the staff are attentive and kind. The wine selection is exceptional, making it a classy spot on the Embarcadero. Guests enjoy relaxing patio seating with heaters, perfect for watching people and cars go by. The food receives high praise, especially the filet mignon fajita tacos, baked mac n cheese, and chocolate mousse, which is described as to die for. The restaurant is busy, so making a reservation is recommended to secure a table in this lively setting. The only downside is the limited business days.
