hidden gem in downtown mountain view with beautiful, delicate desserts. i got the pistachio layered pastry and it was divine — rich, not too sweet, and full of texture. staff were really kind and helpful, especially with explaining the different pastries. the space feels elegant but relaxed, like a little escape from the busy street. perfect for a treat-yourself moment or an afternoon coffee break.

Come once a week to pick up there Japanese full loaf of bread. The pistachio croissant is a must. Can't leave without some individual cakes.

So sad to do this but you should lower your expectations significantly if you’ve been coming here for the past few years or even months. Quality has gone down the drain owing to cost cutting with a machete and a razor blade for fineness. $10 croissants are no longer justified with the complete lack of filling inside. Coffee beans are stale. How much does it cost to properly fill a $8.50 pistachio croissant with cream??? How much did you save by skimping on the filling? And use decent coffee beans for a $7 coffee?? I guess cost of retaining customers would be considered too high for this establishment, much cheaper to have low quality items being sold at constantly increasing prices under the false guise of premium-ness to unsuspecting new customers. Used to be our favorite spot for a treat but won’t be coming back, I know other long standing customers will feel the same and stop frequenting this spot.

I’ve popped into Alexander’s Patisserie a few times now, and it’s always a treat, those desserts are like little works of art! They’ve got that light mousse texture that really hits the spot if you’re into something smooth and elegant. Sure, it’s a bit on the pricey side, but for the quality and how beautifully everything’s done, it feels worth it.

It's pricey and the coffee was decent but nothing to brag about. The deserts on the other hand were exceptional. The Tiramisu was great and the Petit Getaux (harmony) was exceptional. Would visit again.

My son really likes their macrons. They are very tasty and not overly sweet. Sometimes it takes a while to wait, but this is expected for a popular French dessert store. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Alexander's Pâtisserie is a 3.5 star establishment masquerading around as a 4+ star one due to the prominence of their steakhouse.
If you are purely judging just based on looks, the patisserie is amazing. Everything looks great and clearly a lot of thought and care went into designing each item to be visually stunning, pleasing to the eye, and make you want to try it.
The issue is, if you simply judge based on taste, it is no different than most decent pastries; perhaps even a tad bit worse. If anything, I'd say some of their items are overly sweet and not well balanced but that comes down to preference.
And then comes the issue of price. You are definitely not getting good value here. You are overpaying for the visuals and the name. But if you simply judge it as a Patisserie rather than Alexander's Patisserie, you'll be left unimpressed.
The service is ok but the Cupertino's location seems to be much better from my experience. Some of the staff here seem uninterested.
Overall, you may get drawn in by the visuals and the name but you may then be disappointed by the taste and value.

Chocolates and cakes that look like museum pieces. A nice place to get a cup of latte with friends and family. Despite some background noise, it's an OK place to talk.

If something is unique you can't truly say that it's overpriced.
Alexander's patisserie does try, though.

We were visiting Music on castro event on Castro Street, Mountain View, and stopped here on a whim. We are so glad we did. We loved visiting Alexander's Parisserie. Such a bright, vibrant place.
We ordered espresso, blueberry lemonade, fleur-de-pistache, and harmony pastries. Highly recommend blueberry lemonade and especially fleur de pistache. Delicious, rich, and decadent!!
Very friendly service as well.
There is a parking lot on Castro street and if you're lucky, street parking is available too.

Food was tasty, in the $11-13 range for desserts, $6 for croissant. Nice indoor and outdoor seating in a lively part of Mountain View. Recommend it over Alexander's across the street. Don't come with expectations of like, world class desserts, and you will be satisfied.
