Such a wonderful little restaurant with authentic French cuisine. Everything was just great: starting with a super friendly service to wonderfully prepared meals. I absolutely loved the onion soup and the duck o’orange.
The cheesecake was delicious as well!!!
I already made a reservation for July 14th for a very special menu, celebrating the biggest French Holiday.
Thank you for a lovely evening!🥰

I went there for an early Saturday dinner. It's an easy to miss place on east bound ECR in MTV. There is some parking in the back, enter from the furniture store lot.
It's small and cozy inside. Service was attentive and exceptional. I had the Côtelettes D'Agneau au Jus et aux Herbes de Provence, medium rare; with a complimentary glass of wine with a local paper coupon.. The mint jelly was a perfect marriage with the lamb. It was delicious. I also got the onion soup for take out.
This was an excellent French dining experience. It's pricey but worth it. I'll be back.
This is my go-to place for any celebration. I've been going to Le Petit Bistro for at least 25 years and it never disappoints. Went last night to celebrate a friend's birthday and everything was just perfect. I can't recommend it enough!!!
A must-visit in Mountain View!
Le Petit Bistro is a cozy, authentic French restaurant that completely won us over with its warm ambiance, relaxed and friendly owners, and—most importantly—its incredible food, crafted with over 30 years of culinary expertise by Chef Jean Michel Peuvrelle.
We started with the escargot, served bubbling in garlicky herb butter—rich, savory, and absolutely irresistible. The fresh baguette made it easy to soak up every last drop.
The coq au vin was a standout—Burgundy wine-marinated chicken braised with shallots, mushrooms, and applewood bacon. Each bite was deeply flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender. A classic dish elevated with heart and skill.
We also tried the chicken cordon bleu, which was equally impressive. Crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside, with savory ham and melted cheese at its core. Paired with creamy potatoes and seasonal vegetables, it was both comforting and refined.
Their menu features a well-rounded variety of French classics, including Demi Canard Rôti à l'Orange—roasted half duck in a luscious orange fruit sauce, Filet de Boeuf au Poivre—a perfectly cooked filet mignon in a Cognac and green peppercorn sauce, and Côtelettes d’Agneau aux Herbes de Provence—tender lamb chops served in an herb-infused jus. Each dish reflects Chef Jean Michel’s attention to tradition, balance, and bold yet elegant flavor.
We ended with the unforgettable tarte Tatin—a caramelized apple pie topped with crème Chantilly. The apples were golden and sweet, resting on a flaky, buttery crust with the lightest vanilla cream to finish. It was simply divine.
With a thoughtfully curated wine list and French-inspired cocktails, the experience at Le Petit Bistro is warm, intimate, and consistently excellent. Whether you're celebrating something special or simply want to indulge in classic French cuisine, Le Petit Bistro in Mountain View delivers every time. We can’t wait to return!
I ate here with my parents and we were sadly disappointed. After being seated we were served hard dinner rolls that seemed like they were from the day before, with cold unspreadable butter. Later on we asked for more bread and they did give us soft, hot rolls. I guess they had used up all the old ones by then.
We all ordered the salad for our appetizer and that's where things really started to go south on our experience. It was supposed to have a Dijon parsley vinaigrette dressing but we couldn't detect any Dijon, parsley, or vinegar. It was just covered in oil. Probably the blandest salad I've ever had.
When our entrees were ready, the server asked which dishes went to each person and then proceeded to mix up my parents dishes. Nobody realized what had happened until my parents noticed that the sauces didn't have any of the flavors they were expecting. When we brought up the mix-up to the owner, instead of apologizing and taking responsibility for the server's error, she proceeded to blame us for not noticing the mistake sooner.
My parents ended up sharing the Coq Au Vin De Chanturgue and Demi Canard Roti a l'Orange, but they said both were bland. The same can't be said about the seafood pasta that I ordered. It was much to spicy but it offset the blandness of everything else.
For dessert my parents had the Tarte Tatin and I had the cheesecake. The Tarte was just ok, but the cheesecake actually had the texture of a soft creamy cheese, but it had almost no flavor.
Based on the reviews of others it seems like we just had an unfortunate experience that is not typical of this restaurant, but due to the blandness of most of the food we ate, we will not be trying it again.
A lovely, real French restaurant. Great food, very nice owners, and a relaxing atmosphere. Fair prices.
Due to its location, it is easily overlooked.
So, tell your friends 🙂
A great culinary experience which brought me back to the kitchen of my grandma, who was an exceptional cook. We really felt at home and I will certainly be back. Jerome
It was Valentine yesterday, I'd booked a reservation on Monday last week, but when the time to confirm my reservation, there was none. I've made reservation online many times and never a failed one except here. I called a few times and only answering machine. Anyhow, it was a disappointment but luckily we found Chez Christina not to far away and we had a great dinner. I was glad that the reservation system failed me, because if a great establishment shouldn't have inferior booking system. Yes, I filled in name, hour, email and phone #.
Nice real French bistro. Have a real European vibe. Has parking. No walk-in. Good food, wine and desserts. Recommended.
The food was phenomenal. I got the filet mignon with green peppercorn sauce and the meat was beautifully cooked to perfection. On top of that, the owner really cares about the food he makes, and was such a nice person to talk to. I highly suggest going to this restaurant at least once to experience the passion this food exudes.

This place deserves more than 5 stars. It looks low key outside but the foods are authentic and amazing, the atmosphere is relaxed, the owners are extremely nice.
My wife is from France and this is our go to place when she feels homesick, definitely the best French restaurant we’ve had in US

A most unfortunate experience. I ordered the pork medallions and a green salad for takeout early on a Wednesday evening.
The good news was that the portions were generous and the salad was good -- butter lettuce with a few nice additions and a mild dressing that I enjoyed.
The bad news is that the rest of the food simply was not good. The pork was tough, the potato a bit undercooked, and the vegetables did not taste fresh at all. They gave me a couple of dinner rolls, which I would have really enjoyed, except that they had apparently sat out for far too long, so they were hard and dry, especially on the outside.
The meal actually upset my digestive system, too. Sorry for the bad review.
