Good spot for North Indian food. The weekend lunch buffet here is very good and has a good selection of items. The food is overall quite tasty.

Would come back for their lunch buffet if I want indian food. $18pp Mon-Thur, $20pp else. Left so full and fat my vision is hazy.
Came on Saturday, many people so food was hot and fresh, but not too busy around the food area.
Northern style rich and creamy (pakora, samosa, butter chicken), vs the nearby Mantra Indian has more dishes popular in the south (basmati, pani puri, roganjosh).
Good mix of vegetarian and meat dishes, a tad too salty and rich for my taste but still good. I liked veg curry (creamy and sweet with saag, peas, more), lentil makhani, egg curry, and paneer pashawari.
Naan was weak, they had another bread i liked better that reminded me of Vietnamese banh tieu that went well with curries.
Had an unexpected salad of ripe mango, black olives, bell peppers, and spring mix. I have to steal that combo i really liked it.
Had free weak chai as well, don't know if they sold other drinks.
Try to sit in the front, very large resturant but back area had industrial smell and felt like a dank cave to me.
Second time there, this time for a buffet.. and i am pleasantly surprised by the amount of appetisers here. So far, they bay area buffets have been disappointing.. this is slightly better. And the difference thats lending this place all the points is that every appetiser was actually good!
I tried the following :
Corn tikki
Desi fries
Veg pakoras
Avacado jhalmurri (didnt have avacado 🤔 but i really liked the bhel aspect of it)
Achari chicken (THE BEST)
Tandoori chicken
Fried Fish
Main course : Kofta and butter chicken (wouldnt recommend)
Dessert :
Gajar ka halwa (decent)
Gulaab jamun (not the best, i couldnt finish.. probably just not my taste)
Naans were soft too.
All in all, for a buffet its pretty solid!
Please note : if you have people who are not very spice tolerant, this place serves! It’s flavourful but not overly spicy!

I have visited Sakoon today with my team for their buffet, and it was a great experience. The spread was impressive with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. I enjoyed the roti, butter roti, paneer saag, paneer butter masala, dal, white rice, and desserts like kheer and carrot halwa. The chicken biryani, kebab, and other dishes were also flavorful. The buffet setup was neat, and the ambiance felt vibrant and welcoming. Service was smooth and the staff was attentive. Overall, a satisfying dining experience, definitely worth visiting if you're looking for a good Indian buffet in Mountain View.

I had this experience a while ago. Received a wrong order and they deleted my review from Grubhub. Manipulative tactics.
The Sakoon on Castro Street in Mountain View is my favorite Indian restaurant in the South Bay Area. It is my preferred spot for celebrations, as the food, service, and ambiance are all excellent. The menu has a full selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for all palates. The spicing is not overwhelming and very unique and flavorful, as they use a mix of North and South Indian spicing in their dishes. I recommend coming for dinner, as when the entrees are fresh and served hot they taste best. The lunch buffet is also excellent, with different dishes rotating daily and an affordable price.
I am not vegetarian, but my favorite and most recommended dishes are the vegetarian entrees: Paneer Peshawari, Phool Makhane Ki Sabzi, Adraki Aloo Gobi, Subz Jalfrezi, Mirchi Baigan Ka Salan, and Sham Savera Kofta. The Tandoori Chicken and Soufia Paneer are also excellent. From the appetizers, the Delhi Ki Aloo Tikki, Panch Poran Paneer Tikka, and Mint Murgh Tikka are also worth trying. For naan, I prefer the onion kulcha and garlic naan, and don’t forget the raita yogurt dish! It’s mild and delicious, and helps complement the spices and creaminess of the dishes. I always order a large order of raita anytime I come for dinner.
The service is excellent, with the staff going above and beyond to make your time pleasant and comfortable. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Raymond and Valent for many years now, and they are always kind and accommodating. They will ensure your experience at Sakoon is memorable.
Please come try out this Bay Area gem. It’s hard to find authentic, high-quality Indian food in the States, but the Mountain View location of Sakoon is one of the best I’ve found. Do note the Mountain View location is significantly better than the other locations.

We have been to the buffet quite a while ago and that's been good, but the a la carte food on Sunday evening was terrible.
We got spoilt dahi ke kebabs (yogurt in the ingredients had gone bad), and the server replaced them at our request with potato tikki without fuss (almost as if it wasn't unexpected). The rumali roti was perfect, but the garlic naan has a burnt taste that I couldn't swallow. The next day, some of us had our stomachs upset.
We've liked the buffet (relatively recently at the Santa Clara location) but would think twice about this Mountain View location. Service is pretty welcoming, so it feels bad to say but they need to up their quality.

Please consider this as a constructive criticism. We had the sham savera kofta curry and it had the taste of honey all over it. None of us liked that curry so please if you can remove honey from it, it would taste a lot better. This is a personal opinion and I do not know the conventional method of preparing the curry. Other than this everything was really good.

Sakoon MV is THE one restaurant where you feel like you are back home in a fine dining restaurant in India. Why ? Because of the elegant ambience, the lovely staff, their welcoming and warm personalities and the most delicious food covering from North to South, East to West of India, yes, that is how creative their entire menu is. They even have wonderful bollywood instrumental music playing softly in the background, it adds to the mood !!
We have visited other Indian restaurants in the bay area from san jose to San Fran, this is THE place to go for high-end, authentic Indian flavors.
We have been going here for years, this is our favorite Indian restaurant in the bay area. Right at the entrance, you are either greeted by the cheerful Raymond or the ever-smiling Dilpreet or the thoughtful Mr Valent. These 3 are the most welcoming staff ever, I feel like I am amongst friends when I am here. The entire team is extremely attentive, very prompt with everything. Their lunch buffet + dinner menu is simply spectacular, right from the delicious mint chicken tikka , basil seekh kabab, incredibly tasty tandoori chicken, lemon fish tikka, Amritsari fish, butter chicken.
All their Paneer dishes (appetizer or main course are delicious). Also, Avocado Jhalmuri is our favorite appetizer. If you want to sample their menu, visit their incredibly cheap and value for money lunch buffet that is offered daily (yes, unbelievable, I know). You get white table cloth treatment with the whole experience even at lunch for such a cheap price even in 2025 !!
Their variety of salads, fruits, chutneys, appetizers, main/gravy dishes(too many to list....veg, non veg), biryanis are just finger-licking delicious. The Nans and other breads are soft and fresh, garlic nan is our favorite !! There are at least 3 desserts at the lunch buffet (Gulab Jamun, kheer, lychee halwa...yummy). They also keep street-style food (panipuri, pav bhaji chola bhatura, poori-bhaji etc etc), tea is also served ! Even the veg appetizers are yummy. There is absolutely something for even the most pickiest of eaters here, just go visit this place.
Dinners are also very peaceful and relaxing here, try their fish dishes, pesto salmon tikka and Konkan fish curry. Well, try anything on their menu, you will not be disappointed because the master chefs at work inside are from India and 5-Star hotel experienced veterans, most likely.
Stop eating Biryanis elsewhere in the bay area, just give Sakoon Biryanis a try, you will see the difference. This is the most value for money place in the bayarea. One time, I even heard a patron tell Raymond that he is visiting from London and no restaurant food from London matches the Sakoon buffet in terms of taste and flavors. Now, that is a huge compliment for this restaurant, the staff, the chefs and the owner. Kudos ! We will be back soon, as always.
Thank You Valent, Dilpreet and Raymond plus the extended staff for your hospitality, you set a high benchmark to beat !

Have been regular guests on Mountain View Center for Performing Arts evenings. Food most recently has been outstanding. Our regular order of Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Biriyani were just extraordinary. Intense balanced flavors, perfectly prepared and served with generous portions it was a perfect pre-show dinner.
I’ve been here twice now and the food is just so amazing. I was worried on a Friday night that they would be crowded, but we were seated immediately. Instead of just serving the usual fare the usual way, each dish had extra care taken. The tandoori salmon was encased in greens as well as spices, so it did not dry out. The chicken tikka masala’s chicken was grilled and itself had good flavor in addition to the delicious sauce. And the seasonal carrot soup tasted so fresh and has just the right amount of spice that everyone at the table enjoyed it. The naan was also excellent.
Meantime our water cups were always full, and the timing of the food to the table was perfect.
I will be back!
