We reserved a private tour and tasting in advance. When we showed up we were met with rain, rain and more rain. Pro tip, pick a month other than February! :) We didn't let the rain get us down and despite showing up a little early, we were met with our guide Angus. I cannot say enough good things about Angus, not only was his knowledge of Hess Persson impeccable, but he grew up in the area and had many personal stories to share with us as well. He never grew tired of our questions and went above and beyond to make our experience one that we will not soon forget.

We decided to join the wine club where we will get additional bottles in the future at discounted pricing and access to batches that may not be sold publicly, at least not in our area. There was never any pressure to join or buy more bottles as you sometimes get at other wineries and what we did buy, Angus and the team at Hess Persson were happy to ship back to Kansas for us.

We had a hard time deciding which we liked better, the wine or the art and in the end, we simply decided that we loved them both. We forgot to pick up the book about the art while on site, but I am hopeful that I can find it on Amazon or elsewhere as I want to research some of the artists and their other pieces. If you come here, and you definitely should, please allow yourself the time to view the art. I think we stayed over 3 hours in all, and we will certainly come back when we are in the area again.

I understand that there used to be a full kitchen here but now they've decided to serve cheese boards instead. I don't fault them for doing so as the cheese board was delicious! Overall, the staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed our time with Angus and at the winery and gallery immensely. We were both so glad that we came and look forward to the arrival of our wine this week!

This Winery is a gorgeous Winery. However, the membership team that operates it are not up to par especially when it comes to shipping. Club membership shipping is awful. You'll receive an email to tease you that you have specific bottles selected for your member wines going out in a few days. Our tease came Nov 4th. Then the Nov 11th shipment notification that says your Wine will arrive on Nov 19th via a controlled environment shipping service. What is not shared is the controlled delivery service isn't going to deliver to you. The controlled service delivers to FedEx or some other shipping company to do the final delivery. Then FedEx does what FedEx does, somewhere after a few days of the wine package sitting around uncontrolled, they decide to deliver. In my case Nov 22nd was the first knock. In what logistics delivery world does it take 11 days to deliver Wine from California or some other holding facility? The story goes on as the Nov 22nd,(Friday) was the start of Thanksgiving holiday travel for many. This isn't Hess first time having terrible shipping or membership issues while visiting their facility. Hess customer service stated 7 days ago they already placed a new order and it will be shipped 2 day FedEx. Today Dec 9th no new information, no tracking and no Wine. While Hess is a beautiful place and does have exceptional Wine their customer care is severely lost. Do yourself a favor and save the headache and visit a Winery that cares that it has patrons as Hess clearly does not.

Angus was great! Personable, accommodating, and knowledgeable! The grounds are gorgeous and of course the wine is fantastic!

We didn’t have a proper reservation for wine tasting, but the staff were so kind and still offered us a complimentary glass of wine. Such a nice gesture! The art museum here is absolutely amazing — a must-see if you visit. Beautiful atmosphere and very welcoming experience overall. We’ll definitely come back for a full tasting next time!

We had such an incredible experience at the beautiful Hess winery and estate. Lance was our tasting guide and absolutely knocked it out of the park - so professional, kind, knowledgeable, and most of all made us feel so welcomed and at home. They handled our travel inconveniences beautifully and rescheduled us the next day with no problem. From the moment we stepped on the property to the moment we left we were treated impeccably and continue to talk highly of our experience to friends and family. Lance- you made our experience exceptional & we can’t wait to be back! Thank you x a million - Kaitland & Mallory

A truly wonderful experience from start to finish. Our host Jennifer was hospitable but allowed for nice silences when out in the vineyard during out ATV tour of the grounds. The tastes from Chef Christopher Lemerand were extraordinary and paired with the wines to highlight even the most subtle flavors of both the solids and liquids.

We had an amazing experience at Hess Persson Estates! From the incredible wines to the beautiful tour around the property and the stunning art gallery, everything was perfect. A special thanks to Steven, who took such great care of us and made the visit even more memorable. Highly recommend!

Really disappointing we are upset and annoyed! They cancelled our reservation tour of the palate one hour in advance!! Try to find a replacement on labor days weekend!? It is impossible!!

This was an okay visit. Place was rather empty it was werid to be one of the only groups there. Not many people walking around like every other place we had been. Felt rather ghost town. I know one of the original owner has passed so I think they may be shutting down. It seems like its reservation only still. Im not sure if they are still afraid of covid, they are shutting down or dont need much buisness because they are thriving else where? The staff was nice they had all been there for years which you felt when having that experience. They need a refresh of the company if they want others to keep coming. I would say I wouldn't recommend this to go tasting unfortunately. Just buy the winter else where and save yourself a drive.

Recommend the ATV wine tasting, ask for Steve!! He listens to what you like during the first few splashes and curates the rest of the tasting a little based on it :) we loved our experience and left with some of the estate grown Malbec — delicious

Hess Persson Napa Valley is a truly special place, blending world-class wines with an inspiring art collection in the breathtaking Mt. Veeder region. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the estate’s serene beauty and welcoming atmosphere. Their Pinot Noir and other reds are nothing short of exceptional—rich, complex, and beautifully balanced, each sip revealing the craftsmanship behind every bottle. The food is equally impressive, with thoughtfully curated pairings that elevate the tasting experience to something unforgettable.

Uncle Donald knocked it out of the park with this one - Pinot Noir. Balanced and highly enjoyable!

This was our favorite of all the wineries we visited while in Napa (Dec 28-30, 2024).We visited Hess on Dec. 29th. Erin was knowledgable about the history of the Hess family as well as the wines and also gave us a wonderful tour before our tasting. We loved ALL of the wines and enjoyed being able to have a tasting amongst the art collection. We enjoyed walking around on the other floors viewing the impressive art collection--I felt like we were in an art museum. My husband HATES wine clubs but loved the wined and experience so much, he joined their wine club and ordered wine to have shipped to our home in Virginia.

I've always enjoyed Hess wines. In August 2024 I bought a case and completed a form for a $36 rebate. Inmar approved the rebate and forwarded to Hess for payment. 5 mo later and still no payment. Inmar insists it is Hess refusing to pay.
I guess I will have to quit buying their wines if they don't honor their committments.
No way to do business, I am very disappointed.
