This place is a sweet gem of Nevada City. Classic breakfast diner, with plenty of veggie options. They run a tight ship on a busy Sunday morning and have lovely staff. I love sitting at the counter on my own and enjoying the atmosphere.
We had a good breakfast here! The servers were extremely kind and accommodating, which made the experience very pleasant. The food itself was decent, though not quite as hearty as we expected — most meals didn’t include a meat protein unless you added it on, and the cheese omelet was literally just cheese and egg, more like a flat dish. That said, the service was wonderful and everything we ordered tasted fine overall. A nice spot for a simple breakfast with great hospitality.
I’ve been getting breakfast here for 10 years. It really is the classic diner experience with coffee refills, milkshakes, and great breakfasts. My go to is the eggs benedict. The waitstaff is really friendly and have the best tourist info. They will tell you about hikes, how to park at the river, and local happenings. Definitely eat here if you are staying at the National hotel across the street. Some things that make the classic cafe extra special are Kendra the talented singer...
