not often you come across an ice cream/chocolate shop combo that works. This place is the exception. Really nice welcoming vibe and even better sweets. Super clean as well. Thanks for the hospitality!!
IF YOU HAVE CELIACS OR GLUTEN ALLERGY STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. ALL GF PRODUCTS ARE GUARANTEED WITH CROSS-CONTAMINATION CONFIRMED BY STAFF. I informed the blonde staff member of the incorrect statement of gluten free if it's guaranteed to have cross contamination. I would have liked to try some of their products. Unfortunately they do not understand food safety 101.
Again, if you have a gluten allergy or any food allergies, stay away from this business if you don't want to be poisoned.
Really tasty ice cream; haven’t tried the toffee yet, but looking forward to it. Staff was friendly and the smell inside was fantastic and sweet!
We skipped dessert at the Stone House Pizza restaurant in favor of the Chocolate Shoppe because the wife loves to try local versions of Rocky Road bricks from the region. This shoppe is family owned and run which typically means that the flavor of chocolate we could get here may be unique to this establishment. The shoppe is located on the right side of the street heading up the hill in Nevada City's Pine Street in Downtown.
When you come through the door, it looks like most candy/chocolate shops you would see offering the same kinds of commercial candies, sodas, ice creams, etc. Standard fare. We are only ever interested in the chocos so went straight to the glass to see what they offered. Their rocky road is sold in clusters vs. cut up bricks/cubes and were about 3.50 a piece. For me, this is a much more reasonable price than I am used to as many boutique choco shoppes sell these for the tune of about 8.50 or so, but that is also a pricing based on weight and not necessarily by piece. We also picked up a Macadamia Cluster and a Peanut Butter Cup.
The Macadamia nut cluster tasted good. Good sized nuts with a sprinkle of salt works for me as I love the salt hit with my choco. The peanut butter cup was tall, about 2.5 Reese's stacked on each other and the peanut butter inside is smooth and balanced for a candy vs. sandwich peanut butter. Well done. For my wife, she felt the milk chocolate was good, but not as good as her favorite from the Monterey coast Pier choco shoppe. I agree with her in the sense that these were good, but not the best we have ever had. In a world where chocolate tastes less and less like what you expect it to everyday, this one is still a good one.
I recommend it for price and taste.
We absolutely loved this candy shop. My kids were huge fans of the cherry taffy, and I had to make a second trip to grab more of the caramel and chocolate-covered pretzels, as well as the peanut butter graham crackers.

I have lived in Nevada City for 45 yrs. and have seen many businesses come and go. 2 things that easily make them fail is HIGH PRICES and bad management. Please lower your prices to have better turn over of product. Cute shoppe.

To start I wasn't asked about what size of ice cream that I wanted. I just asked for a scoop and got handed the tiniest scoop of ice-cream I have ever gotten from a shop.
It turns out they do sizes by amount of scoops. One scoop being a small and three scoops being a large. Since I ended up wanting a large I just asked if they could add two more scoops of ice cream and I will pay the difference for them.
I asked kindly and respectfully and my request got denied no matter what way I tried to put it. I got met with defensive behavior and aggression.
Treats is right down the corner and much better.

If you want some ice cream for your money don’t go here. Head to Treats down the hill. Portion for a double was TINY!
Ordered 2 scoops in a cup. Cup filled with half scoops. If female in her 50’s behind counter taking with a mother and her teenage daughter is an owner, shame on you and your friends for talking loudly and negatively about other people. From owning pets to how another teenager couldn’t write and essay for school, your loud unprofessional comments wasn’t conducive around customers.
Last Facebook post was in December 2023. Good to know your Christmas hours are posted.
I wouldn’t recommend this business. Go to Treats a few blocks away.

Sophie was great with recommendations for a gift set and our own box of choice. We couldn’t resist and ended up trying some chocolates and Turkish delights as soon as we walked out of the shop. We will definitely come back when we are in Nevada City!

They have a wonderful array of fudge, candies and ice cream. Personally I love their Nevada City Gold fudge and their caramel apples. The staff too are wonderful and always super helpful. I walk-in at least once a week.

I went to this place recently and I cannot begin to describe how rude the owners are! I was scolded at for accidentally brining in my grandson with a stroller and felt humiliated. I will never go back. Their candy is overpriced and their customer service is horrible.

The candy and treats in this store are overpriced. Also the employees treated me and my kids horribly. We were told there was one line down the middle and that we could not look at the food behind the glass from anywhere but the line. Made me feel like like I was doing something wrong just because I didn’t know better.
