Stopped for 1 item. Will come back now that I've seen the many shops and variety in items.

We came on a Monday evening which is a slow night in general so the restaurant was very empty. We ordered the Bulgogi bowl, spicy pork bowl and cheese Bulgogi fries. It was a great value meal because of the amount of food there was in each bowl. The food tasted good but since it was a slow evening for them, I think a lot of their food is made in advance. Elements like the meat and the egg don't come out super hot and fresh tasting. Maybe it would be different if it was a busier night and they were making items to order. The Bulgogi cheese fries were decent but the areas with the cheese got soggy really quickly. Probably wouldn't order that again. I would recommend this place for the great value and comforting food. I just wish some of the key components of the bowls were made to order so it's hot and fresh tasting.

Rice bowls ("cups") are not bad and very affordable, and good portion for one person. I'll be back for more. Kimbaps- not sold anymore, according to the lady who answered the phone today. Too bad. Love that they have some banchan/kimchis in the fridge for purchase.

9/8/22 Dinner BQ Cup Bop in Newark is nothing like the Cup Bop in Las Vegas near UNLV. We walk in about 6 pm on a Friday night, and the place was empty. We ordered a spicy pork bowl and a chicken curry bowl. I asked the cashier if the chicken curry bowl was spicy and she lied to me. It was super spicy! I think I ate more rice than curry. It also had way more bamboo spouts then chicken. I hate bamboo shoots, so it was hard to eat. My husband's spicy pork bowl was sweet instead of spicy. He said it was "Just okay" and the bottle of soju helped. They have a large selection of drinks and pre-made banchans. They also have happy hour BOGO 50% off from 5 - 9 daily. I was disappointed that it wasn't like the Cup Bop in Vegas which is like a Korean Chipotle. I think that model would be more successful here.

Our second time here. The first time was just for japchae and kimbap to go, both were flavorful and a great portion for 5.99 each. This trip we ate in, and tried the cups. We had the beef and broccoli, house pork, and Thai curry. All 3 were seasoned well but I thought the curry was over salted and lacked a good coconut milk to bring it together (maybe it was a little watered down). They have a 5-9pm bogo 50% on cups and the sides like the japchae and kimbap. For 3 cups and two very generous sides the bill was $37, not a bad deal at all. Keep in mind that this isn't quite up to par with regular sit down restaurant food, but it's more quick service style and the price reflects it. If you're up for a quick lunch or evening meal give them a try. The pickled daikon looked good too and I contemplated grabbing a tray. I'll save that for next time!

Get your Korean food fix here and give this place a try, it's a Korean banchan market that sells cup bop (Korean rice bowl) mixed with a sushi bar for those of us that can't make up our minds! There's a promotion for buying one cup bop bowl get the second half-off from 5-9pm. Bring your friends... Here's your sign!

Simple affordable and delicious! I was pleasantly surprised that the kimchi was cooked which is a nice side to the order I had (I ordered the pork belly cup). Portions are generous for the price too. I highly recommend!

I stopped by and tried a couple of the meats. Overall, the meats were overly sugary for my tastes, without other flavors being that strong. The ribeye texture was very chewy. Sugar was the predominant flavor, a bit heavy on the ginger as well. This felt a bit more Chinese influenced than Korean since I feel like Korean food is usually heavier on the sesame oil, 3/5. The regular pork was my favorite, with a good mix of fat and meat, and great pork flavor 3.75/5. The spicy pork was heavily drenched in sauce, and somehow also very sweet. The texture was a bit hard, 3/5. As others have mentioned, the cashier who helped us did not provide good customer service. She was unhelpful when we asked questions about the menu and seemed to act annoyed when we checked out, 2/5.
