A Promising Spot, But the Flavor Fell Short.
I was really hoping Ming Kee would be a great new discovery for a traditional Chinese breakfast. The place itself is very promising—it's impeccably clean and organized inside, and the staff had my takeout order ready to go right when I arrived. They definitely know how to make a great Stewed Beef Tendon Rice Roll; the flavors were rich, and the tendon was perfectly tender, which shows they have potential in the kitchen. Unfortunately, that was the only dish that really stood out. The congee we ordered was quite bland, and the texture of the plain rice rolls became hard and stale just minutes after leaving the restaurant. The turnip cake was a bit flavorless. It's a shame because the service and cleanliness are top-notch, but based on this visit, the overall flavor just wasn't there to justify a higher rating.

I was here to try porridge. I ordered Sampan porridge, which comes with combination of proteins: fish, shrimps, tofu. It also has doughnuts and peanuts. First when I tried it, I found it bland, but not in a bad way. Then I added shredded dried tofu and green scallions that came on the side and chilly oil. It added so much flavour. I really enjoyed my porridge. They serve you a cup of tea immediately as you take a seat at the table. The food came out very fast as well. The service was great!

The food there is good but service is terrible! The woman at the front desk is vey rude. You’ll have to pay before the food is made in this restaurant. I have been in this place many times before and paid at least 15% for tips. However last Sunday, I forgot to give tips when ordering at the front desk, then the woman became very impatient and said “Because you didn’t give me tips, you can only sit at Table 1”. The Table 1 is the only table at the corner and it feels like kind of punishment to eat there. I don’t understand why she would be so rude to her customers only because they forgot to give her tips once. Very bad service, won’t be there again!

I ordered take-out for a pork porridge ($11.30 tax included). The moment I walked in, the staff asked if I could pay with cash. While I was confused with my Google Pay pulled up on my phone, I told her that I don't have any cash on hand and she replied "huh". I was done wasting time so I went back to ask my husband for cash.
