Filipino food with a modern twist! This spot is located inside the Lion Market Shopping Center, and growing up in the area, I never even knew! It was a nice hidden discovery, and the inside surprised me even more. I looooved the decor!
Food was delicious and very flavorful, reminding me of home cooking. I will be honest, my adobo was a little oilier than I was used to, but maybe I just have a weak stomach lol. I definitely want to come back to try their other dishes though, it was hard not to order everything on the menu during our visit haha.
They also have an AYCE Brunch Buffet on Sundays from 11am-3pm and Live Music on Friday/Saturday nights (think laid back, acoustic vibes)

The beef dish was dry. The lechon kawali tasted like leftovers. The halo halo was 90% shaved ice.. service was average. There were only 2 tables of diners. Yet it took awhile for food to come. Noise: other table diners were very loud . Like they own the restaurant. It was almost 1:00 . So the place is slow. Only 2 tables being serviced. Don’t mind spending on dining out. But we felt the food was horrible. I never have any luck dining in Filipino restaurants.
Came here from LA! Great fast service and great food! The live music takes it to a different level for atmosphere. Also got to see Sir Ryan Cayabyab in the house.

Loved the dinuguan. Most Filipinos will cook that dish with just a bit too much vinegar and that tends to overpower the rest of the flavors.
Restaurantji Recommends
We came for the buffet, but were not aware it is only on Sundays. We’ve been curious about this place for a while, so decided to still try their food.
1. House Spaghetti - big portion, not too sweet. We liked it, but didn’t think anything special about it just because we have a jollibee spaghetti bias.
2. Lechon Kawali - this was super good! We really liked the sauce. The pork was crispy and soft at the same time. Def recommend.
3. Garlic Rice - always good!
4. The restaurant also looks cool with a chill vibe and the servers were very nice.
We will def come back on a Sunday to try the buffet.

For context, I'm a visiting Filipino-American from Missouri. The food my family and I ordered (a lot) was delicious! The crispy palabok and kare-kare volcano presentations were unique, in my experience, and entertaining. The original halo-halo, HUGE! I wish I had two stomachs! The service was first-class and friendly. We'll be coming back for sure, next time we're in California!

One of the things I truly appreciated about Timog was their generous use of ingredients. No skimping here—every plate is a feast for the senses, with spices and sauces that capture the essence of how our lolas and moms prepare their dishes.
The Kare-Kare Volcano stood out as a culinary masterpiece, its rich, velvety peanut sauce a symphony of flavors. The pungent and perfectly salty bagoong on the side added a delightful contrast, while the Sinigang na Hipon provided the perfect balance of sourness that made your mouth water. And let’s not forget the Lechon Kawali—crispy, juicy, and served with a liver sauce that tasted like a labor of love.
Other notable dishes were Picadillo, Mechado, Laing, Lumpiang Shanghai (you can really taste the meat here), and the Pork Adobo (they used pork belly). And if you’re feeling sweet, their Halo-Halo is a showstopper that perfectly concludes your already satisfying meal.
What truly sets Timog apart is the attentive and friendly service. The staff treats you like family, checking in just enough to ensure your comfort and always ready to offer recommendations or explain dishes with pride.
Each dish savored was a testament to the true essence of Filipino cuisine—prepared with heart, tradition, and a commitment to quality. Whether you grew up with these dishes or are discovering them for the first time, Timog offers a comforting experience that only home-cooked Filipino food can provide.

Made us wait 40 mins for our lunch while people that came after us was served under 20 mins. We were told they cook the food in house that’s why it took so long but then we were also told they didn’t expect the demand that was the reason. I prefer honesty.
