West of Orleans is a true gem in Ventura County. You could play blind roulette with the menu and never be disappointed. Everyone I’ve introduced their food to has become an enthusiastic fan. Plus you couldn’t ask for nicer, more genuine people who really put their love into what they’re doing.

The woman who took our order was so delightful and patient since me and my partner were indecisive on what we wanted to try.
I went on to order a very savory chicken gumbo with brisket and garlic loaf to go.
My partner ordered a pulled pork po boy with a side of Mac and cheese that he really enjoyed.
The Mac and cheese was definitely homemade style with pieces of melted cheddar and pan burnt cheese.
We have both been to New Orleans and love the food and I absolutely feel that this little gem captures the essence of all Cajun. This will now become one of our regular places

GUYS! This is the best place! Food is incredible, owners and staff are so so lovely. Their catfish is out of this world. Gumbo and jambalaya are incredible as well. Red beans and rice, HELL YEAH! Mac and cheese, PHENOMENAL! I am originally from the south and have been craving good food that reminds me of home. This is it. Will be back quite a bit.

Had to come down to LA and was looking for a good cajun spot. This was the only 5 star spot in the area and it’s well deserved. I didn’t catch her name but the woman who helped us was extremely kind. Food was AMAZING (catfish fingers, shrimp etouffe po boy, mac and greens) and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you!

Takeout only restaurant. The jambalaya is fantastic and has brought me back multiple times. The sandwiches have amazing flavor but do seem to be very juicy (sometimes the bread is soaked through if you don't immediately eat the sandwich).

Authentic and exceptional jambalaya far from the big easy! The gumbo looked good too, but the seafood jambalaya was exceptional! Generous portions of crab, shrimp and crawfish with the perfect amount of spice!

It’s not often something new and different comes along in the Thousand Oaks culinary seen. West Of Orleans is just that, there are no substitutes for this genre of food. Marcus has created an authentic Southern dining experience that must be tried to believe. I ordered the Chicken Gumbo, Seafood Etouffée and the Black Eyed Peas. The seafood was the true star of my meal, the shrimp was plump and fresh. The flavors took me back to my childhood eating my grandmother’s Southern cooking. The next time I’m in I will be trying other options on the menu. Do not hesitate, get there now and I promise you will not be disappointed.
