I’m writing this as a warning to anyone considering visiting Beach Ball Bar. Two of my daughters were roofied at this bar on a Thursday afternoon around 3:00 PM, during what was supposed to be a joyful bachelorette celebration.
We left them at the bar around 2:30 PM, and within minutes, a man—whom we have on video—was seen bringing shots to them. Those drinks were drugged.
After piecing everything together through texts, videos, and calls, we’ve identified three predatory men, and we believe one may have been an employee. Multiple women from our group, who were traveling with us, saw these same men on FaceTime calls made repeatedly during the chaos that followed.
This was not just suspicious—it was predatory and calculated. Thankfully, the group barely made it out safely. But this place is not safe, especially for women.
We are not the first to report something like this—search the reviews yourself. Beach Ball Bar has a pattern of similar allegations. This should not be allowed to continue.
Please think twice before stepping foot in this establishment. Your safety—and the safety of your loved ones—comes first.

Between this and Blackies you are two staples in the Newport bar crawl trail. If you are looking for an old school dive bar on Newport Peninsula, this is a must go.

From Chicago staying in Newport. Very racist bar . Have a video witnessing them passing all the Caucasian pool tables going straight to the Latin pool table no words said shutting the lights off and taking the balls away I confronted the guy because he left all the other tables open after he had just said verbatim if you aren’t paying pool go upstairs when in fact that table was . when confronted he instantly said it had nothing to do with ethnicity. In my eyes very racist . And I have it on video . Very shameful.

This place is a Legendary Dive! And I mean *dive* in a good way. The locals are always friendly and the bar service is quick. Even when it gets busy. I always stop at Beach Ball when I visit Newport cause it's always open. It is Very comforting to know that this place still exists even when the rest of Huntington Beach is turning into a yuppie playground infest.

Bar tender in the morning we came to get some beers my friend forgot her ID so we went back to my car look for it and found it. Came back in and he said that just because she "tripped" on the step of the stairs she was too drunk to get a beer. Funny part is she hadn't even had anything to drink prior that. Also i have other friends there that have complained about some red haured bouncer and that girls aren't safe there. Not sure why that place is still open to be honest. Really crappy attitude. Should avoid going there next time i visit that area.

Great stop on our New Year's Eve bar crawl. We decided to collect a momentum from each bar. Thanks to Jennifer, she poured a great drink and found us a sticker to commemorate our stop.
Had a blast last night. Most people were dressed in Halloween costumes. Bouncer was so chill. Fun vibe.

Tried to go here on my boyfriend’s birthday and the weird red haired bouncer was being rude to us and would not let my boyfriend in for some unknown reason. He allowed me and our friend to go in but would not let my boyfriend in even after he showed him a valid California drivers license and multiple other forms of identification. He was being very rude to him and just said “I don’t want to let you in” without any reasoning why. He gave me racist/antisemitic vibes. After reading the other one star reviews I believe that was the case. We have gone here a lot in the past but we will not be coming back ever again

Been coming here for 3 years and never had an issue but today the fat white bouncer said I don't look like my ID picture and didn't let me in. My ID pic is 3 years old but it definitely still looks like me. I showed him other identification to prove it's me and then he just said I don't wanna let you in. I am assuming the real reason is because he is antisemitic and I am Jewish. What a sad pathetic loser. Just lost several regular patrons. Was also on my 24th birthday!
