The Cinnamon Toast Crunch pancakes were very delicious. I devoured the whole thing. The service was good for the most part. The atmosphere was a bit too loud for my liking. But acceptable for a bar. Except the main disappointment for the meal. Was my uncle and my mom’s. Classic breakfast was a huge let down. Everything was undercooked and not very good.

Worst customer service. Been here several times and service is horrible to non existent. Wondering how and why people keep coming. We finally had enough of being ignored and walked out quietly.

Driven by here 100 times. Finally stopped for something to eat after spending the day at the beach. Did not disappoint. The Cali Fish Tacos might be the best fish tacos I've ever had. Had it with a house Mexican style lager. Delicious! We also ordered the Artichoke Chicken Flatbread and it too was on point.

I can’t really review the food because after 45 minutes my food never came out. Took awhile for a server to ask if we wanted menus, no I just wanted to sit here and look pretty? We had to go up to them to order drinks, bring them to our table, after 15 more minutes no one asked if we wanted to order food so we went up to them to order and after 45 minutes said ok we are leaving. And her response was are you sure? Uh ya pretty sure . I’m understanding if it was busy but 6 other patrons is just bad service and they don’t seem to really care at all. I own restaurants nearby and this customer service is complete unacceptable in my opinion .

If there’s a zombie apocalypse and I’m dying of thirst and hunger, and this is the last place on earth, I’d rather get my jugular torn out by the voracious undead than return to this place.

A Wild Ride at Helmsman Ale House: When Good Vibes Meet… Well, Something Else
So, Saturday night, 10:00 PM, I stroll into Helmsman Ale House ready for a great time. The atmosphere? Electric. The beers? Delicious. The crowd? Young, energetic, and oozing good vibes. I thought to myself, “Yes, this is the kind of place that makes living in the U.S. worth it!” And then… it happened.

Some brave soul, clearly overwhelmed by the excitement of the night (or maybe by one beer too many), decided to share their insides with the dance floor. Yes, right there in the middle. Now, I like a bit of spontaneity, but this was a bit much. The smell hit faster than the beat dropped. It was like the room was suddenly transported to the world’s worst cologne factory.

I spotted a young man wearing a red shirt with “staff” on the back and heroically reported the biohazard situation. He looked at me, nodded with the seriousness of a firefighter heading into a blaze, and walked over. I thought, “Here we go, this guy’s going to save the day!” He arrives at the scene, gives it a good hard stare… and then just walks off. Mission accomplished? Apparently, all it takes is a good look at the problem.

Meanwhile, people are casually stepping in the vomit like it’s the newest dance craze, spreading it across the floor like a Jackson Pollock painting. And there I am, sipping my beer, watching this masterpiece unfold. A real highlight of the night.

Having recently moved to the U.S. from Europe, I came to places like this for the cleanliness and the quality. But, hey, if Helmsman Ale House wants to turn their dance floor into a Jackson Pollock exhibit made of… whatever that was, I guess that’s their new artistic direction. I just hope next time the staff does more than look at the problem. Maybe they can actually clean it up? Just a thought.

Casual, beach sports bar that caters to the mid 20’s crowd. Serves your typical bar food that is just ok. Has a full bar and a number of house made beers that are surprisingly good, try the hazy. After 8PM it turns into a college bar. Plenty of TVs for games and UFC Fights.

Parking: You’re on an island, parking is not easy.

After a day at the beach, we stopped by with our dogs and enjoyed some pretty good food and beer! We tried the fish tacos and fish and chips, both of which were delicious. The patio was ideal for relaxing outdoors and enjoying the weather, and our server promptly assisted us. The bartender was also really cool. Definitely give this spot a try!

I've been going to Helmsman for wing Wednesday for the past 4+ years. I used to go about 2 times a week, until the past few months. Every time I have tried to go over the past 3-4 months, it has been completely packed, line out of the door due to Newport Run Club. No hate on the club, but I would like to enjoy my Wing Wednesdays without having to wait in a 20 minute line then its a packed out bar. If you are looking to go to Helmsmans for wing wednesday, get there before 7PM if you want a table.
