The food quality has become awful compared to the excellent quality it used to be. The pealing vinyl tables look terrible in the outside seating. The portion sizes getting much smaller and the prices getting much higher and the quality getting much worse makes this not worth it anymore. Service was okay.

Our first visit. Took a friend to lunch for her birthday. When making reservations I stated a birthday. No mention of birthday at any time. Yet I had flowers and a gift.
Appetizer of guacamole 20.00. The chips were terrible. Salsa mediocre. Ordered fajitas chicken. Chicken was low End chicken. Chewed like a rubber band. The veggies included were minimal at best. 10 to 15 pieces of onion and green bell pepper. Refried beans had coagulated white cheese on top. COLD. The tortillas weren't even big enough to make a taco..let alone a burrito. Torts cold. Ordered their top shelf. .margarita. for 26.00 the ice cube was as big as the inside of my high ball glass. Didn't taste any tequilla. Don't even think there was an Oz of liquid in the glass.
Took 35 minutes to get the check. Our waiter never came back to our table after taking order.
Then I called the restau4ant to give e my take on our experience....the MANAGER WANTED TO SCHOOL ME ON HOW I DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT I HAD ORDERED. ETC...
I proceeded to tell the manager I am the patron and he needed to fix his restaurant not school a patron.
THE MANAGER HUNG UP ON ME!!!!
This restaurant is great place to have a nice dinner
Love.
The Corte vaquero.
Love everything about this place, the atmosphere, the customer service. The food is amazing. The views are amazing. Highly recommend
This is a really good place to eat when celebrating but a bit too expensive.
Really good food and atmosphere was great.
There's a 2 hour max to sit but at each waiter interaction I felt as if I needed to gulp my food. They took the plate and my daughter was literally eating. I mean if I'm spending $300 can you give me a minute.? Wouldn't go back.
Let’s be honest, no place with authentic Mexican food is going to charge even remotely close to what Javier’s does. If you come with this in mind you will enjoy your dining experience for everything other than the food. Nice views, decent drinks, good ambiance. Food is middle tier… perception can be swayed towards positive when you take in the total blend of exterior elements. If you want to take a date or friend group out to a “coveted” OC restaurant go to Javier’s. If you want truly great Mexican food, go support a small business.

I have been a longtime fan of Javier’s and regularly frequented the Newport Beach, Century City, Irvine Spectrum, and Las Vegas locations for years, which is why this experience was so upsetting and disappointing.
I specifically ordered a virgin spicy skinny margarita while newly pregnant after recently suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage at 12 weeks. The waiter acknowledged the order, but after finishing most of my first drink and taking a few sips of a second, I realized there was alcohol in them. When I questioned it, the waiter immediately panicked and admitted he “didn’t hear me,” despite everyone at the table hearing me clearly order the drink virgin.
I was absolutely devastated and left the restaurant crying and panicking that I may have harmed my baby. What made the situation worse was how dismissively it was handled by management. The entire situation was brushed off as a “miscommunication,” and there was very little accountability, urgency, or empathy shown for how serious this mistake actually was.
Serving alcohol to someone who explicitly requested a virgin drink — especially a pregnant woman — is not a minor mistake. It completely ruined the evening and honestly changed the way I view a restaurant I used to love.

We here for a business lunch on Tuesday after about 10 years. Sat in the newly renovated outside bar area. It was so nice. View of the ocean across PCH. Light an airy. Margaritas tasted good. Guac ($20) was also good. I had there asada salad which was done very nicely. My coworkers got the enchiladas mariscos and they both devoured it. Service is primo.
