This restaurant was great in the old days, but unfortunately all good things come to an end. This place has expanded, commercialized and now with restaurants where quality has gone down, but prices continue to climb. Too much hype and food has no taste, overpriced and mediocre at best. Very noisy and not a place to socialize unless you like to scream. Service is very hit and miss. I think i am officially done with this overpriced restaurant.

Wasn't happy with our table. They added an extra chair at the end which was shorter than the rest of the booth. Always love the food but boy has it gotten expensive. Love the Javier's Margarita

Their food is next level. Ambiance is spectacular with a view of the sea. Decor is fantastic as are the margaritas. One of our favorite places to bring guests.

The 2 frozen margaritas were not so great. $40 is pricey. Food was excellent as well as the service but prices overall are high. Their valet pay has taken over so much of the space we had no choice but to pay for parking and to tip.

It is so LOUD in the restaurant. The music is turned up way too high. Our food was okay, but I asked that my fish be fully cooked when I ordered it. It arrived raw in the middle, so I had to send it back for more cooking. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but it's just a scene now. Our waiter was fantastic.

Excellent restaurant. Ambience the best! A beautifully appointed restaurant in any one of the rooms. The servers are very well trained. A must to visit!

When I arrived I went to the hostess stand and was the only customer with 3+ people behind the counter and not one person acknowledged me for multiple minutes. Ruined the overall experience. As a Newport Beach resident who has been there 50+ times it was disappointing.

Our experience was less than stellar, especially for being the regulars we are. To start, I had listed in our reservation we were celebrating a big event - but the front of house staff didn't even look at my res before attempting to seat us in an area that was quartered off for a different celebratory event. (These guys don't seem big on celebrations) Then, after being seated for about 15 minutes, one of the house staff asked that we move one of our attendees emotional support dog, booting us to another table. When we asked them to assist it in moving the items we'd already ordered to the new louder, less-of-an-ocean-view table, we were met with groans. We were unaware that guests were expected to wait on their own tables? Our server, Eliseo V, didn't seem to understand that someone in our party was celiac or what gluten was. Despite making that very clear, he brought out an ahi ceviche drowning in soy sauce (decidedly not gluten free). We explained that unfortunately, the poké sauce had soy which contained gluten, and instead of offering to comp that item and leave it for the non-celiac individuals at our table (since it was their mistake and we had been waiting for some time) he told us if he leaves it, he charges us - and then abruptly whisked it away. We sat waiting another 10 mins for a new ceviche. When our mains finally arrived, Eliseo brought the cheese out on the side - I guess, in some alternate reality, cheese has gluten? Our party was then left alone to fend for ourselves the remainder of the meal as Eliseo focused entirely on a table adjacent to ours comprised of a large party where one of the guests was a former OC real housewife...the whole thing felt very “LA.” It took them far too long to collect our card so we could pay for the underwhelming meal and lackluster service. To say we are disappointed in the experience and quality would be a severe understatement. We've had better service at a Waffle House in Louisiana. No more Javiers for us.

This is a very popular restaurant that is not worth the hype. The food is very expensive which would be okay if it was delicious. None of the 4 of us enjoyed our meals. The food was not hot and pretty tasteless. For sure skip the lobster enchiladas. The noise level is so high and music very loud so that it hard to talk at the table. I couldn't wait to leave. The decor and bars are very nice.

Over priced drinks, food was ok. View is great, Service was polite but nothing special. Overall ok, been twice, but not feeling it's a place I'll be going back to anytime soon.

Years ago, I came to this location when it first opened. Over the years we've been loyal to Javiers, visiting all of the locations and recently I've been noticing major shifts in service, food and cleanliness. When we sat down at our table, I noticed it was dirty. There were long hairs laying in my seat. The white leather tables looked dirty as well. Then, our server had major attitude. In fact we had to flag him down to order everything, even our drinks, as if was were a burden to him. As if that wasn't disappointing enough, each one of our dishes came out at separate times, so we sat there with cold food, waiting for the other people in our party to get their food. It was bizarre. It was as if he had coursed it out so that everyone would get their meals at different times. Very unprofessional. It was challenging to talk to one another while we waited because the music was so loud. Right around the time we received our check, our server tried to make up to us by suddenly becoming friendly to our table. It was too late for us. The impression had been made! Majorly disappointed in Javier's at the moment. Oh, and they market that their shrimp as wild and I remember when it used to be. It's very clear that the shrimp they are currently using is farm raised. At least the shrimp they gave our party was.

Javier's has amazing food, service and ambiance. For what you get, it's not that pricey. I would totally recommend this place!

This is definitely a place moreso for “see and be seen”- than for great Mexican food. Very loud; we raised our voices quite a bit to talk. TBH, food was good, but nothing particularly stands out. And I wouldn't say it was worth the cost. I feel for the staff, they were harried on a busy evening and it showed. We were led to our table, and waited for additional seating. We were given food menus but no drink menus, so weren't ready when waiter arrived. Then we were given 1 drink menu for a table of 6! Same for dessert. Wait staff was climbing on seating benches alongside dining patrons, to light their exterior “flower lamps”. Good to have gone to Javier's once.
