Good food
Nice ambiance, a little too dark. Hostess wanted to seat us among other tables even though there were plenty of unoccupied tables. We requested to be seated someplace else. Service was excellent! Very knowledgeable young man. Food was mediocre- chicken tacos were food, salmon was also tasty (may be the presentation should be on a different plate, not in a bowl). I have never seen before in a place considered as “fine dining” a busser ( with mustache, without the glasses!) to collect the appetizers plates and leave (most accurately drop loud on the table) all the used silverware on the table. Never asked if we will need fresh silverware. Also reaching out from the corner side of the table to collect finished dishes?? Not professional at all. It is very inconvenient having those heavy steak knifes when you have different food than a stake. Server was doing most of the work with not much help and the restaurant was not busy on a Monday. We celebrated birthdays and we were offered free deserts (tres leces), which was the most delicious food at this venue. There are a few aspects management should work on. They are mentioned above.
The food and service was absolutely excellent.. I loved the decor. I didn't live that we arrived a few minutes early for our 6 pm reservation and had to wait 20 minutes for our table. However, the wait was worth it for the food.
Food was amazing as always, service always great from the valet to exit. The salsa did their chips wa so good with their perfectly salted chips. I ordered the Filet Mignon, cooked medium rare just perfectly, Tres Leches cake was delicious. Perfect restaurant for birthdays.
Food and service was amazing, but it was extremely loud. It was difficultly to hear our servers at times and that took away from some of the ambience. It was also extremely dark, which was a challenge for ordering. Overall, though, the restaurant is worth the cost and someplace we would go again.
The Red O is a high-end Cal Mex restaurant. The food is 3 out of 5, and the selsa and chips are very good. Food is overpriced and parking is difficult. The staff is very pleasant and service war good. Not a restaurant I recommend to my friends.
Our server, Leonardo (I think that was his name) was beyond exceptional. He looked perfectly groomed and his uniform was immaculate. He was polite, professional, sincere, and timely. He was by far the most amazing waiter I've had in years. All workers that day were very welcoming and professional. The restaurant was very clean and organized as it usual is. The food on this day was the best it has been in years. I was so pleased, that I am planning to return as soon as I can.
Wonderful cuisine! I had the lamb chops and they were to die for! The veggies were drenched in a mole sauce that went so well with the chops. I also had a mango margarita which was divine! My guests enjoyed either the enchiladas or the sea bass and loved them! Our server was amazing...very attentive and so knowledgeable. He was a joy to have serve us. We will be going back soon!!!
Went for lunch and the restaurant was not full so noise level was minimal. The guacamole was delicious as well as the Taco Tuesday selections. Would definitely go back for dinner and ask to be seated on one of their beautiful outdoor patios.
We had a great experience celebrating my birthday! We had 9 in our party which included 2 infants and the staff was very accommodating in providing high chairs and making sure we were comfortable. Jose, our server was also very good. He was fast, efficient and friendly. It had been quite a few since I had been here, but after today I will return sooner than later. The food on the Sunday Brunch menu was delicious. ? Drinks were also yummy!! ?

Not what it used to be. So loud and for a younger crowd now. Saturday evening with a DJ playing music fairly loud and us struggling to have a conversation, it is no longer the place for me. Food is good, but the ambience wasn't a fit.
The hostess and waitress were all friendly and helpful. The food here is always amazing, I was sad they hadn't brought back the butternut squash soup yet though. I hope it makes another appearance soon.
Arrived a little early for our 5:00pm reservation, but we were still seated promptly and the hostess was kind enough to accommodate our request to be seated side by side in a booth, instead of a regular table for two with chairs. Menus were provided upon being seated and then chips and salsa, which are delicious, were swiftly delivered to the table. We were then greeted by our waiter who took our order for drinks. Unfortunately, they were out of the Pinot Noir by the glass, but the Cabernet Sauvignon was a more than adequate substitute. Ahi tartar was tasty and not too filling. The seabass was perfectly cooked and tasted incredible, while the enchilada trio was very good. Out of the three different enchiladas served (chicken, shrimp and short rib), I enjoyed the short rib the most, then the chicken and the shrimp. A side order of beans and rice came a couple of minutes after the entrees were brought to the table, but no big deal. For dessert, the butter cake with assorted berries, coconut ice cream and coconut shavings made for a very tasty and filling ending to our meal. The Macchiato was excellent. Plenty of parking with valet an option. The ambiance and furnishings were amazing, a true feast for the eyes. We left just before the Friday dinner rush, but you could tell that the volume of noise was gradually increasing as the restaurant was filling up. Overall, it was a great experience and we look forward to returning in the near future!
We've always enjoyed dining at Red O in Newport Beach, but our recent visit for my wife's birthday was incredibly disappointing. We invited friends and family, expecting the great food and service we've come to love, but sadly, it turned out to be a very frustrating evening. The evening started off well, but things quickly went downhill. We experienced an unusually long wait for our drinks, which was concerning since the restaurant was not crowded. After finally placing our orders, the wait for our meals seemed longer than usual. When the food arrived, it was cold and overcooked. I ordered the Tomahawk, and for $125, I expected something much better. It was tough, overcooked, and flavorless, a stark contrast to the quality I've had here before. To make matters worse, they completely forgot the dessert we had ordered to celebrate my wife's birthday. This small but important detail added to our overall disappointment. For a place that has been one of our favorites, this was by far the most disheartening experience. I hope this was a one-off situation, but I can't deny how let down we felt on what was supposed to be a special evening.
Everytime I come to RED O it's an amazing experience. The food and drinks were amazing. This time we sat on the patio and I didn't like the service we received. It wasn't great. We moved from inside from what seemed like a great server to the young lady on the patio and the service was horrible. So maybe next time we'll stay inside.
