The Crab Cooker Reviews
Had not been since the remodel. Just had lunch there. Very expensive. Crab was $79.95. The appetizer crab, 1 leg, and very delicious was $57.95. Tasty, great service, paper and plastic, $$$$$.
First ate at the Crab Cooker in 1982 - my first trip to SoCal. Just returned last month. Fresh seafood of all types right off the grill. It’s as good as it was 40 years ago. Great service (thanks Dani!) and funky atmosphere. We love it and will return.

The Crab Cooker is a top-notch restaurant that offers great food and excellent service. This Newport Beach institution is so beloved that it has been featured in a painting on the wall, with its original hanging in the Hilbert Museum. The atmosphere is charming and filled with nautical decor, including a huge taxidermied Great White shark and seafood-themed stained glass. The dining areas, with booths and tables, provide a neighborly feel, and there is a special dining room for private parties.
The seafood is undeniably fresh, including crab, shrimp, fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. The scallops are particularly delicious, and while the clam chowder may not be everyone's favorite style, the Manhattan clam chowder has received praise. The cocktail crab, shrimp skewers, soft shell crabs, and grilled halibut special are all well-prepared and highly recommended. The crab cakes are a favorite for many, adding to the overall appeal. The Alaskan king crab legs were phenomenal, and the Blue plate special also received positive reviews. The restaurant offers a selection of wines, with most priced under $40. With a history, charm, and delicious food, The Crab Cooker is a must-visit for seafood lovers.
