We came here for Christmas Eve without reservation, and we were able to be seated. The service is great and they have a lot of food selections. I opted for the Braised short ribs. The flavor is good, but it was in a little dry side. It could have used a lot more sauce. However, the crowd here is great, and it's always nice to people watch enjoying the lights all around.

I used to live on balboa island and my buddies and I would go to sing songs with the lounge singer there. It has lost a bit of that charm and become a bit more commercial, but the food is good and it is still a good choice when visiting the island.

Husband and I had our first anniversary dinner there and the service was terrible. Waiter took over 20 minutes to take our order upon the 10 minutes for drinks. Food was subpar, clam chowder tasted like it came from a can. The waiter never came to check on us either, we signaled him a few times and even then he’d ignore us and check on the other tables while avoiding ours. It wasn’t too busy, waiter probably only had around 4 tables with small parties. Wouldn’t be back.

Casual beach dinning. Good food and drinks. The Prime Rib Sandwich was so good, as well as the Flank Steak Sandwich. 👏👏

Our server was absolutely amazing! I cannot remember his name, but he was so attentive to our table and really took good care of our 7 year old grandson as we sat outside last night. We always enjoy our meals at the Village Inn!
VI is part of the history of Balboa Island--casual, old school and fun. Live music is loud and fun...sit on the dining side if it's too loud. This was the first time we'd been back to the Village Inn in many years. Remodel is great. Service is fast, friendly and fun. We started with an order of wings and they are SPICY! Calamari was good. I had the fish tacos and they were delicious.
This place is much too noisy. It would help to partition off the west dining area from the bar by at least a partial wall. The live musical entertainment could be beefed up. The soloist singer/guitarist we saw on a Friday night was OK, but I miss the 2-3 person bands they used to book here on weekend nights. The staff is always courteous, and the location is perfect for safely walking off a buzz.

Was on patio - nice evening. Bruschetta and calamari were very good as were the drinks but the service was a little suspect. Waiter was ok but barely attentive and seemed like he didn't want to be there.
My fiance and I walked in and were told we would get a seat instantly. As our server was showing us to our seat, he told us to wait for two minutes as he had to clean it. The server then walked away and was nowhere to be seen so for 10 minutes we were awkwardly standing by the bar and didn't receive any help. Those 10 minutes were uncomfortable and worsened our mood for the night. One of the bartenders eventually noticed us and we were then seated by a different server. The entrees were good for the most part. I ordered the free range chicken sandwich and my fiance ordered the village burger. We also ordered the nachos as an appetizer and they had barely any cheese. Our server was decent for the most part. However, he asked the group next to us if they enjoyed their meals and he never asked us the same question. The sandwich was also really messy and I couldn't ask for additional napkins since the sever didn't ask how we were doing.

Quesadilla and fish tacos were very good. Music is good, easy rock. Open/breezy atmosphere.

This is a nice upscale restraunt that has a great atmosphere and good service. The drinks are exceptional, the food is good but should be better in taste and presenttion in relationship to the price. But it is in Balboa Island so everything is pricy.

Great spot on Balboa Island to stop in for lunch, dinner, or drinks at the bar. The food is very tasty, our go-to has been the Village Burger, Chicken Sandwich and Crispy Calamari.
I have a love for French fries, and they are particularly delicious and crispy here.
