Food was good, service was good and the vibes are petty good here too!
Nice spot in NPB for a classic meal on the waterfront. Food is basic and the atmosphere has old bones and charm. Service was OK and the prices fair. Drinks from the bar weren't the best. The margarita was a weak effort. We came for dinner but I think this would be better for lunch.

The seafood paella was soupy and too lemony, the clams were dirty and food was so small and overpriced. Bathroom is very dirty

On the water in Newport Bay. Big windows with great view. Fun bar atmosphere. Has boat slips for water arrivals. Server will come down to boat with food and drinks. Newport pier is a 10 minute walk away. This was a Thursday lunch at Woodys and a few hours kicking back on the sand. Good times great vibe down here.

We had reservations for August 23, 2025. Seated promptly. Waiter was courteous. Ordered cocktails and crab cakes. My Mezcal had a weird after taste. Waiter replaced it with my second choice. Dinner: my husband ordered the rib eye steak, it was OK, not a Steakhouse steak as described in the restaurants title. I had the Lobster Linguini. There were bits of lobster and linguini. No sauce whatsoever. It was a dry and tasteless dish. The menu states, herb butter. No herb butter! No one asked why I left all the linguini on my plate. Sad.
I can guarantee this review will go unoticed as only the 5 star reviews receive feedback. I’m sure most of the 5 star reviews are taken from a made up list and edited. This restaurant should have a 2.5 rating.

Tourist traps are out—Woody’s Wharf is the real deal 🌊🍴
You know how most places make you choose between a great view or great food? At Woody’s Wharf in Newport Beach, you get both—without spending a fortune. So skip the touristy beachfront spots in Newport and head to Woody’s Wharf instead. Marina views, incredible food, and prices that actually make sense 🙌.
We started with the ahi poke tower ($10 during happy hour) and clam chowder ($5 during happy hour for a bowl), then tried the grilled fish tacos ($8 during happy hour) and the twin lobster tails ($39) , which were incredible. Add in a basil gin cocktail, and honestly, it was the perfect meal. Happy hour is weekdays from 3-6 pm.
Whether you sit inside or outside, you’ll have that calming marina view to people or boat watch… and then later at night, it turns into this fun, lively scene with DJs.
It’s truly the best of all worlds.
Also some fun facts: Woody’s Wharf was founded in 1965 by Woody Payne. Also once owned by Chuck Norris in the mid-1980s. Now owned by four our longtime friends, Greg, Chris, Ralph & Mark.

Amanda went above and beyond we absolutely love her. The only reason why we’re leaving is because our room is ready at our hotel otherwise we’d stay here all day and all night.
DJ on 8/17 is absolute trash. Don’t have him back.
Woody Wharf has a good location. We tried the special food for the day. It was steak and shrimp with veggies. Also, my friend got the salmon and veggies. The taste was good but it was a liite bit salty for me. The environment was so good especially if you sit outside. I only give 4 starts for food because of the reason I mentioned before. Totally it is a good place to eat dinner or lunch with your friends.

Really cool place, the view is probably one of the best I’ve seen in the whole country, if you like the view of the water and the boats. The food was good, the server was friendly. Glad we went here just for the view and the wood plank flooring kind of felt like home where I grew up. Good experience, Newport Beach overall was a really great tourist location.

My sister and I ordered the crab stuffed salmon and contracted food poisoning. All of our food was super salty, the salmon was cooked hard and it just didn't taste good. After about 15 minutes we started feeling sick instantly. We threw up so many times that night and my sister had to go to the ER.
I didn't want to make the post but I feel like others should know and the restaurant should consider making changes.

Food wasn't to bad, i did enjoy it, I've definitely had better, the issue really was at the beginning when i was told a 15 minute wait. We sat for very close to an hour, drinks came late, our serve was nice, but there's definitely a disconnect somewhere, i wouldnt go back unless very quiet

We had a great experience here at Woody's Wharf.
Our server, Micah was witty, helpful, friendly and made sure everything was smooth.
We had the first and chips as well as the Ribeye steak and it reminded me of the time I visited the UK back in the 90's.
Definitely recommend based on food, service, atmosphere.
