Restaurant is very loud when full. Food is fabulous!! We were there before a Paramount theater concert and the restaurant was packed with other concertgoers. The staff was absolutely slammed, so service was slow. But I would go back anytime!
We went on a super busy night so it was difficult for all the waiters to keep up. So service was slow the place was packed. Margaritas were great chips and guacamole outstanding and we had some tacos. That were really good. Lovely place.
Delicious cocktails and Oaxacan cuisine, pleasant service, made for a lovely evening! MOLE!!!
Everything was great, we had an office goodbye get together and everyone was pleased with their food. We will be back in December for Christmas party. Staff was great and food was amazing.
We had a great experience at Agave Uptown. The manager, Osvaldo, was very accommodating of our large party of 13. Brandon and the other staff were very attentive and served us with great hospitality. 5 Stars for this Oakland jewel !!!
Great place to eat and hang with friends
Enjoyed my favorite dish on the menu (special that is) - Branzino. But everything I've tried has not disappointed.
Good place to try a sit down Mexican place, with plenty of dishes beyond tacos and burritos. Tried mole for the first time which was well done and brought a different type of flavour. Their carnitas were also really good, soft and melting in your mouth
Negatives: *Host person didn't know that 2 of our party of 4 had already been seated, we saw each other across the room and finally sat at ONE table. *VERY NOISY * our food took 35 minutes to come out of the kitchen * our bill came with the extra 2 beers we'd ordered 15 minutes prior so we had to request that the beers be delivered or struck from our bill * everyone there (on this Saturday night) was going to the Paramount Theater show at 8pm (probably EVERY Saturday night for that matter) why would you serve food to patrons at 7.25 leaving them 15 minutes (max!) to enjoy a rather over-priced meal? * food was light and well prepared but lacked interest (bland, soulless, unfocused) * menu could include more info such as "how many" enchiladas are going to be on my plate (it was 2 and they were rather small) * waitstaff decided it was permissible to throw silverware into buckets loudy less than 4 feet away from our table. Come on, at these prices you should KNOW BETTER. there were NO POSITIVES - clearly this place knows they're popular (location) but they really didn't seem to be making ANY kind of effort. Overall: BAD VALUE
Came here for a welcome dinner for a wedding. The food and service were varied and outstanding and the vibe was great. Good drinks too!

Always love this experience - love their drinks and their food. Consistently wonderful. Service was a little off because they had some large parties and the staff was hustling. And the parties tend to be a bit loud. But none of this will deter me from going again soon
Good food and drinks. Loud.
The food is excellent and the noise level is too loud. It's difficult to hear people at the table except for the person sitting next to you. We always come with a large crowd and can't hear anyone at the opposite end of the table.
Agave is the kind of spot that gets everything right—delicious, flavorful food, an impressive mezcal selection, and a welcoming, stylish atmosphere. Perfect for a night out with friends or a casual date. Definitely a go-to in Oakland! Perfect place for after work drinks & bites!
Food was incredible. We had two vegetarians, and there were so many amazing options. Every single item was amazing: guac, memelitas, veggie enchiladas. Can't wait to come back and try more.
