Aunt Mary's was on my short list of places that I wanted to go to because of their high ratings, and they did not disappoint. All four dishes that my family and I ordered tasted very good. All of the staff, including our server, were very kind and accommodating. If there was one knock however on the experience, it would be that we felt like we were unattended to for most of the time. For most places who specialize in breakfast, as Aunt Mary's does, 3 minutes usually doesn't pass between staff asking you if you want a refill of coffee. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here, and I had to search for somebody whenever we needed something. Nevertheless, I believe that was probably a one-off, considering how kind everybody was, and will definitely come back again.

Amazing. Friendly service. Always busy and no reservations but very much worth the wait. I recommend the Pain de Perdue and lemon ricotta pancakes! Wash it down with a guava or cider mimosa.

This was my first visit in quite some time. The wait was very reasonable. They are seating an amount of tables they are able to serve well. The service is good. The food is tasty. The weekend brunch specials that we tried were good. Espresso drinks and alcoholic drinks good as well. Happy we came here for brunch!

The wait was 35 minutes. This is a very busy hotspot and for all the right reasons. The tables indoors and outdoors are all suitably far apart. We had asked to be seated in their open patio at the back. It is quaint and filled with adorable succulents. The staff opened out a second sun umbrella to keep our table in the shade. The menu is very popular with the locals, so we had a lot of deliberation on what not to get! We opted for poached eggs, toast, grits, fried catfish, shrimp grits, southern greens, buttermilk pie and coffee. The meal was fresh and delicious. It felt like the servers were a little rushed, but still so well mannered. I would come back again in a heartbeat. And brunch for two was $63 including a 20% tip. How can you go wrong!

TL, DR : awesome food, friendly service, bonus feature: remote waitlist to reduce wait times!! It's been a looong time since I've found a place where I felt compelled to leave a review. My experience this morning compelled to share this place's awesomeness! First, you can remote waitlist via yelp. It was my first time doing so and I'm hooked!! Sunday morning brunch usually means a loooong wait time. With a lil one, this is not an option. To be able to check wait time before we leave the house, AND add our name to the waitlist so that when we get there, we are seated right away?! How awesome is that?! Pretty awesome!! (I would hate to be the folks who showed up without remote waitlist since they had to wait around for twenty mins to half an hour and then watch us ushered in like VIPs). Second, the food is AWESOME!! The fried oysters on the Hangtown omelet was to die for. They were plump and juice but perfectly fried with just the right amount of spice/breading. The fried chicken was perfect and the sage gravy was just to die for. PLUS real maple syrup was offered for the waffles!! REAL maple syrup not that fake junk. Third, the coffee was great. Many places just fall flat on this one. As coffee is the starting point of brunch, it really sets the tone when they get it right. Finally, they charge 15% surcharge so tip is already included in your bill. They post the notice at the table and the menu so that you are aware up front. I believe it's the reason that the staff is fantastic and made the whole experience great. They know they are going to be paid fairly, they take pride in their work. Seriously, if you are looking for hat new brunch place to check out, give Aunt Mary a try!

My daughter and I were looking for some place to get a yummy Breakfast and this was in walking distance to where she lives. I grew up eating Southern cuisine and I've had some great food around the country so I was looking forward to having an Oakland Southern cuisine experience. I can't say that I was impressed. The omelette was just OK. It lacked flavor. The biscuits were also a bit bland. I'm guessing that my sausage patty was homemade but it was very dry and also needed more seasoning. It was a decent meal but I wouldn't recommend it and if I'm in the area again I wouldn't go back. The service was great. It's a spacious restaurant and I'm thinking they may have seating outside in the back.

Fantastic soul food! We got take out from this restaurant for my dad's birthday and everyone oooh'd and aaah'd over all the great choices. The chicken and waffles, the grits, the veg: it was all delicious! We lived in LA for a long time and always used to love getting soul food from Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, and this is a very worthy counterpart in Northern CA. Also we had a big order and we phoned them and asked if they could accommodate a change to the timing of the order, and they were extremely gracious and helpful. Get yourself some food from Aunt Mary's, they are awesome and you should try it!

The service was terrible , the waiter never brought or my man a water and it was 11am they close at 2:00pm or something like that however, I love the diversity in the store and the owner is super friendly but, the food was soggy.

Aunt Mary's is my number one spot in the east bay. Consistently legendary. Epic everything! Particularly the bubble and squeak and the chilaquiles get our nod consistently. But if I had to give you one item only, it's not even close. Chicken and waffles, thigh meat. Don't hesitate. Just do it.

Wife says best cup of coffee in a restaurant she ever had. She also LOVED the homemade jam and fluffy biscuits. I really liked my biscuits and gravy, a little heavy on the sage. Lovely place and nice staff

ATMOSPHERE Casual Southern charm. Appears small in the front but lots of seating around the corner and back patio. SERVICE Excellent, on point, loved our server's timing, knowledge, and sense of humor. FOOD I was here with two southern boys and they were both pleased. We had biscuits, gravy, ricotta pancakes, fried chicken, etc., and YUM. I do recommend adding gravy or a condiment to the breakfast sandwich because otherwise it's a little dry on its own but I liked being able to switch up flavors with each bite and the eggs were very tasty, well seasoned. The brunch cocktails are also very good, highly recommend those as well. OVERALL An excellent breakfast/brunch spot!

Had an excellent time here for brunch. The Chicken & Waffles were delicious (very fluffy). I loved their Buttermilk Biscuits. Their food made me feel like I was back home in Alabama. The outside dinner area was very relaxing and enjoyable. We were seated quickly and the menu is not overwhelming and has a great selection of items to choose from. Food is more expensive but its worth the quality. Excellent service from the staff and chefs. Very professional and patient. Highly recommend and will definitely be back again.

We wanted to try something different and the beautiful photos of the plates on yelp reviews catches our attention. Food is really good and incredible cheap! Even though The environment of the place is perfect the service didn't meet my expectations :( They are also short staffed.
