Cocktails and the fish dish were really great. We reserved for a table, but ended up sitting at the bar. Wasn't really happy with that, but the atmosphere and food were beyond our expectations.

The food was 10/10, everything we ordered was excellent, and was brought to us by the chef himself, who was gregarious and kind. Service was impeccable, our waiter was available but in no way intrusive. Ambience was on point and unique. Will definitely be returning to Bardo!

Everything was delicious. We started with deviled eggs, beet salad, and croquettes, then shared a pork chop. All I can say is they have given Wood Tavern something to worry about with this dish. The staff were accommodating and extremely helpful as well. Coming back!

We went to Valentine's Day. For start, the staff broke a vase full of water next to us, we were very wet, but we get it, sometimes it happens. For a Michelin star, I thought the food wasn't that good. The filet mignon (super pricy), was salty and greasy, the pork chop had a lot of fat and extremely salty, my husband couldn't even finish. It's a good restaurant for appetizers and drinks, but not beyond that. We had high expectations for being a Michelin star restaurant, but we were disappointed.

Food was fantastic. Our table tried the fish, gnocchi, and croquettes as an appetizer. Everything was delicious. Ambience was great, perfect for a date night, or getting drinks with friends. Will definitely be going back.

I really really wanted to give this place 5 stars. Sadly, I had a poor experience. I scheduled a 7 pm reservation for my sister's engagement celebration. We weren't seated until 7:30 pm or so. They let us wait with sparkling wine, which I think should've been comped. When we were seated, we ordered appetizers right away. It came out at a decent time. The food itself was a bit underwhelming. High price for small tapas plates that tasted okay. The entrees took a lot longer to come out after we ordered. My husband said the gnocchi was lack luster and texture was more chewy - more of a mochi texture. I ordered the Oakland Caesar because it was recommended in reviews. Really really wanted to like it, but the flavor was just not there. The Bardo Burger was a hit though. We ordered dessert and they didn't have any of the ice cream we requested. They did comp our desserts due to the wait and the poor experience. Anyway, I don't think we'll be back.

Very cool place. Gentle jazz music played while we enjoyed our cocktails and throughout dinner. The staff is amazing and clearly care about your experience. My wife and I loved the food...she had the local fish and I had the filet topped with crab, which was incredible. Best steak I've had in a while. We'll definitely be back!

Another amazing meal and experience at Bardo. Highly recommend the dinner party menu, trust the staff on this, we had a mix of vegetarian and meat eaters. We all ate, ate and ate to our hearts content. Drinks also spectacular. Our server, Joseph was attentive and sensitive to our time restrictions. Can't wait to come back again. Thank you Bardo!

I was torn between giving the place a 4 or a 5. Some of the dishes were great. Others were just ok. Of what they’re currently serving - we really enjoyed the gnocchi and duck and potato crochettes. The fish of the day and tuna carpaccio were only ok. Drinks were great. Desert - poached pear with blue cheese ice cream - was more weird than delicious.Great mid-mod atmosphere and service was definitely solid.I would definitely return.Parking: It’s in Oakland. I wouldn’t recommend parking your car in Oakland these days. We took public transportation.

Lovely mid century modern aesthetic. Food was good, a little rich for my taste. But good. A little pricey if you want to try the food and cocktails. I Reccomend doing so since the cocktails were fun and unique. Wish it was more affordable so I could go again, but it will have to be a once in while for special occasions kinda thing. The service was great. Desserts were fun. Highly reccomend if you can afford it. The atmosphere is a big highlight.

Wow perhaps the most delicious gnocchi I've ever eaten. Ever. So delicious. Drinks - great! (Had to have a second one just to be sure.) ;-). Caesar salad - scrupulous! Who knew Caesar salads could be so delicious. Main meal - wow! I'll be back soon!

We had an excellent experience! Fantastic drinks and we opted for the tasting menu which was incredible tour of the offerings at this restaurant. Our service was timely and attentive. We had a great experience all in all.

what an interesting experience. the food and drinks were completely out of the world, and i'm planning on heading back just to dive head-first in to the menu and eat and drink all of the things! the decor and ambience of bardo is top-notch as well... such a comfy and laid-back vibe.however, the service at the bar was spotty... one bartender just seemed to ignore us and we were forced to flag down the 2nd bartender to get additional drinks, dessert and eventually our check! since it's not a large bar area, it seems surprising that it took such a long time to be noticed when we're obviously trying to get their attention.maybe it was an off night? who knows. the food more than made up for it. :)

My friend suggested this restaurant for his birthday. I had never been here before. From the second I walked in the door, everyone is so nice. I accidentally made the reservation for a couch, and they were able to put us in a table. The food was absolutely wonderful. We ordered, french fries, tuna carpaccio, butter beans with cornbread and deviled eggs. Those were the starters. They were all so great. I couldn't even tell you which one was my favorite! As our main course, we ordered the steak and the pork chop. Delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly. We had a cannoli for dessert and they brought it with a candle. So sweet. I can't wait to go back here again. It is absolutely the best. .
