Always an interesting experience and fun treat. Classic cocktails in a classic atmosphere. Service is on point! Food is innovative yet still comforting and familiar. Never disappointed.
This is one of my favorite restaurants - it always feels elegant and special to be there. The vibe is great, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the food never disappoints.
Superb. This place is special- from the midcentury furnishings to the ambient lighting and upscale lounge atmosphere to the handcrafted beautifully plated food (yes, that's an art form for outstanding chefs!) and genuine warm service, we had a fabulous birthday celebration dinner for a dear friend! Thank you, Bardo, for attending to all the details that make dining out an extravagant affair. Loved it all & will be back!

The diverse clientele adds to the welcoming charm, making it a great overall dining experience. The decor features mid-century modern details that create a timeless feel. The food menu includes favorites like the chicken liver mousse, which is rich and well balanced when paired with strawberries and bread. The chicken and grits, with mushrooms as a great addition, and the sole, offering a different Asian flavor profile, are highly recommended. Portions are generous, and the food tends to be rich, so bringing an empty stomach is advised. Service is fast and friendly, with staff providing great recommendations. The well-lit space has clean bathrooms, and while the decor doesn’t follow a specific theme, it contributes to a pleasant experience. Desserts are over the top, adding to the special feel. Many guests celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and special events at Bardo, citing the exceptional food, service, ambience, and fabulous cocktails. The restaurant is open for excellent dinners on Mondays, often lively and bubbly without being noisy, with creative and deep flavors that are highly recommended. The changing seasonal menu is a delight, with diners savoring bites and trying to figure out all the components of each dish. The staff remains lovely, and the atmosphere is appreciated by repeat visitors. While there are other great restaurants in Oakland, Bardo holds its own as a cozy place perfect for celebrating special occasions or enjoying a memorable meal.
