Homey Chinese bakery/café in Metro Plaza! I've never actually sat down and tried any of their menu items, but the bakery items are always tasty. They don't have as many of the savory (ham, tomato, etc.) buns that I enjoy as some other bakeries, but their selection of staples (like "gai mei bao" coconut buns, egg tarts, and pineapple buns) is always good. Come early in the morning or at least before noon if you want more variety!! For the quality/value you get at the $1-2 price range, the pastries are about on par with other Chinese bakeries in Oakland. I will say Metro Plaza parking is horrendous. Tiny, scarce spots, so more often than not there are people double parking in the little space there. Good luck, lol. Verdict: Good comfort food for breakfast or a light-ish meal. Not the best, but they are The Best.

I read previous reviews from more than a year ago it said the place is great and friendly dim sum was yummy. That was not my experience. I went there three times. They only had half of the things on their menu. They were not all that friendly. It seemed like I was annoying them by asking questions about what's inside of which dumpling. They had no patience it's not like any customer was behind me to be rushing me. I'll assume it's covid related. Still, I expected friendliness like I read previous reviews

horrible service here, I kept getting ignore when I directly talking to them. They kept taking order of people that just walked in the door and ignore me. finally someone decided to take my order. I got an order of bbq in rice noodle roll, 3 pieces of beef shieu mai and 3 pieces if shrimp dumplings for $11. I was a bit surprised when the woman brought up the charge, because I could get a lot more food in san Francisco china town for 10 buc. i thought i took a picture of the food before i ate them, but for some reson I can't find it, weird. the shrimp dumplings was actually good, the beef shieu mai was okay, a bit far on the salty side. The bbq pork rice roll was very fatty, and greasy, even their soy sauce was not salty enough to cut the fattiness. I didn't do anything to deserve the rude treatment, and I am not interested in coming back for more.

I love the look of some of the food here but they don't understand gluten or wheat flour, and that's a no go for me. I have eaten their shumai and a few other things but I am always concerned. They use blended rice flour and won't check the bag of promise me it doesn't have gluten and I'm not sure they even interstand me, which is a shame because it might be gf. If you get there early the food looks good but by the end of the day it looks suspect

Their tripe and chicken feet has better flavor than the bigger Chinese establishments in Oakland, but they could work on hiring a better baker so their savory buns is more up to par with other establishments of this kind

They do have good stuff. I was there a few weeks ago and was happy that the ladies were mask and gloves. But when the men walk out of the kitchen without anything other then his apron. I lean over to look at the kitchen. All the cooks no mask or gloves. Protect yourself and others too please.

My parents and I have always gone here for some morning food. I always get their porridge in the morning and some of their other pastries. The porridge runs out really fast, so it you want some, come before 10! They have typical dim sum foods, but the pastries is where it's at. It's a typical mom and pop shop and mainly speaks Chinese so keep that in mind! The prices are also so good for what you get. I got a large Togo container of porridge, an extra century egg, and meat pastries for $8! That would be able to fill me up for at least two meals. It's not the best looking interior, but it's jus a grab and go right now. All the workers are wearing masks, too!
