Delicious home made Ethiopian. Intimate casual atmosphere, great for solo vegans or friends. Indoor and usually outdoor seating. A nice person will prepare your meal within a few minutes.
This place is a little hidden gem! There are several Ethiopian restaurants in Oakland, many are very well known. Cafe Dareye gives them all a run for their money. A friend I and had just finished smashing things at Smash Kingdom a few sores down the block and were starving. We walked by Cafe Dareye and that wonderful smell of Ethiopian spices drew us in. It’s a very small space. We shared a 1/2 veggie combo platter and a Beef Tibs platter with Ethiopian spiced tea. It all hit...
Very nice people. The full order is just enough for 2. we had 3 so we got extra injera. We were going to a movie nearby so we just wanted to get something to try it. Very good lentils and cabbage.
