You have to come here. Tasty and exotic vegetarian options, with decadent bakery options and great lattes. It's kind of exactly what you want in a cafe.Vegetarian options: Get the bone broth Eye Opener and famous Breakfast Polenta

I purchased the tuna, egg, asparagus sandwich but couldn’t eat it because it was dripping wet and falling apart. I struggled with it for a minute and tossed it in the garbage. I think it would be a good sandwich if it wasn’t pre-made.

I was invited to an art exhibition by a friend of mine, Norm Fisher. The owner of Caffe 817 hosts different artists. What a clever idea to enjoy the amazing creations from a local artist and at the same time enjoy a great latte. I met the owner, and he was one of the friendliest people. I had no idea of this place before Friday. I am glad I did. My wife and I had a great time. I will definitely recommend this place for the great coffee, friendly atmosphere, and support to local artists. I highly recommend stopping by coffee and checking Norm's creations as they have a deep meaning and amazing colors. His art will be there for a few more weeks. Thanks, and enjoy. ? ? ?

As a visitor to the area on a sunny Saturday morning, I was so happy to find this charming café just between downtown Oakland and Jack London Square, with an Italian market on one side and an excellent used bookstore on the other. I sat inside in the window (the outside table were taken) with a ham and cornichon sandwich and a fine cup of Assam tea. Yoga-mat-toters, reuning families, and other locals were all represented,

Loved the salad with feta and walnuts. They were happy to switch out regular walnuts (instead of candied). Tuna sandwich was fabulous too..Great spot all around

Very cute cafe in downtown Oakland. They have avocado toast, cappuccino and steel cuts oats. Ambience is good and oats were very fresh. Place is small but have enough tables . Definitely try avocado toast and cappuccino.

This is our go to breakfast cafe spot in Oakland. The chai is really well done and generous, and I’ve also had some amazing lemonades. The quiche is always great, and the bagels are from Boichik so you can eat them without having to stand in line at boichik lol. Also love the polenta, and the egg salad. As you can tell, everything here is amazing, and so is the service.

It's a charming little place with decent coffee, lattes and baked goods. BUT based on all the pictures we expected we'd be able to have eggs benedict or poached eggs or some other hot options. That apparently is no longer the case. We did have very nice toast (Acme Levain multigrain) with peanut butter, or fresh ricotta and honey, or avocado, and they had premade Starter Bakery quiche that they'd heat up, but don't go for a hot egg breakfast. The photos of that stuff are old news.

A bagel that is worthy of praise from any new york quality expectations. The lemonade had just the perfect amount of bite. Staff with the patience of saints, please do not test this, they are busy and working hard, tip well instead.

The place has drifted a bit from its Italian roots. There is still polenta but it is no longer served with stuffed Fontina, poached eggs and the lovely parsley garnish. The avocado toast is satisfying and the presentation excellent. Staff are friendly and efficient.

Cute little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. The food offerings are pretty diverse and everything I've ordered there has been delicious as well as high-quality. I highly recommend the oatmeal with candied walnuts and sour cherries!

Yup. Still a 5 star experience. Food is quick even when it's busy, amazing quality. I got the polenta with everything in it, very delicate but very filling

This place is great for small parties since the cafe is small inside & outside. The food is also pretty good and has healthy options which is sometimes hard to find. The lox bagel was super tasty because they put pickled veggies on top. That street of Oakland is pretty cute too so sitting outside is perfect on a nice, sunny day. I was able to bring my dog too and it was the perfect setting. A little small for 4 adults since the table wasn't that big but was manageable. Overall a good experience for solid breakfast/coffee in the east bay. I would say it's definitely a more casual spot.

This cute cafe has indoor and outdoor seating and lots of great breakfast/lunch options. I tried the bagel with cream cheese +avocado along with their cold brew coffee. All of their bagels come with capers and pickled onions (unless you request to leave them off) and it is a delicious addition! The cold brew is smooth and has a slight chocolate finish. A great find for breakfast, lunch, or a quick bite.
