Recently renovated this centerpiece of Old Oakland is truly a stalwart of great sandwiches, friendly staff as well a chill atmosphere inside. There's seating outside for those still a bit squeamish of that indoors. While the city will soon remove the seating on the street, there's plenty of room inside as well there's always to go.BTW , it's still a family operation, a century's worth of good food , provisions in a welcoming atmosphere.
They make the best tasting sandwiches! My go to is their ratatouille sandwich (I’m vegetarian)?. The staff is super friendly, quick and there is an assortment of ingredients to browse while you wait or sit outside in their patio! This has become my go to lunch spot and quick grocery store in a pinch (or if I am trying to be fancy and make a charcuterie board). Definitely worth the price, it’s a staple in the community!

Ratto's..... I freaking love you!! Sandwiches are always well made, accurate, fast and awesome ingredients! You don't go light on the pesto. The bread is awesome! We use Ratto's all the time for company lunches and never had a sandwich made incorrectly.
