Unreal good hole-in-the-wall family-run spot that has been around for ages. Call ahead! Pupusas take time.

Great food and staff will definitely be going back next time I'm in oakland

I haven't found a place that sells good pupusas until now. The food is amazing and not too expensive. I love that it's family owned and authentic. I come here every week or every other week depending on my craving but it's my go to spot whenever I have to get off at west Oakland bart. For those saying the decor ain't nice or that there is no parking. It's the Bay Area first of all so parking anywhere is tough and second of all it's not the most pleasant area so of course they aren't gonna offer great ambience. You order to go for the most part but if it's early I'll stay and eat. Overall they have the sweetest staff and amazing food I totally recommend!

Awesome place. It's a Ma and Pa shop so I just love supporting local businesses but in addition this place has some really awesome food. Papusas are probably my favorite food of all time so I know when places have good papusas. For the flavor and for the price this place is unbeatable. Seriously. They're fillings are generous and their sauces are generous. Old ladies are in the back making the papusas fresh to order. Can't really go wrong. This place is mostly a take out place. I wouldn't really wanna sit inside and eat my meal. Only gripe but it's ok cuz the food is solid

I've been eating pupusas here for over a decade and the quality never changes! Yes, this seems like a sketchy, dicey, hole-in-the wall sorta place but it's right across the street from West Oakland BART so nothing too crazy is going down at this restaurant and nothing has ever happened to me here. Parking is hard, but they do have a private lot so that is very rare and cool. In all my years I've never eaten in, my sisters and I have ordered our pupusas for dinner to go forever and they are absolutely authentic, always piping hot and made to order. You can get 2 super fulfilling pupusas for 6 bucks and they have all sorts (with cheese) - pollo, pork, zucchini, juevos y loroco...and others I'm probably missing.

Everything is SO DELICIOUS. It's my fav place for pupusas. I can taste them now...All flavors are good. They make amazing tacos too.

Been loving this place since I've been a little girl growing up in West Oakland. It always feels good to stop by for a bite every chance I get.

Unfortunately I'm knocking off a star because the hours and prices keep changing. There isn't a set schedule and I never know if a pupusa will cost me $2 or $3.

Comalapa is a mexican/salvadorean eatery with 3 tables for dining in. it's a take out place. no ambience. take out counter is outfitted with iron bars. offerings: burritos, taco, nachos, quesadillas, pupusas eats: 2 pupusa/$6 -mushy texture. zucchina/lorocco veggie melted upon cooking -cheese strong, salsa watery, tomato taste, curtido cabbage slaw pickle flavored, due to pickles in the mix. take outs: -cash only -food made to order -street parking difficult.

Misleading, they charged me $8.00 for two pupusas but the menu says $6.00

Decent food but the photos on Google are misleading since you literally have to order through a hole in a fence between you and the counter. Feels ghetto and unfriendly when you do that.

The pupusas were delicious. It took a while to serve (approx. 15 minutes for 3) but, they were delicious indeed.
