Golden Tea Shop is so so good! I have recommended this place to my family and friends and they always want to come back! It may not be the fanciest boba shop, but it is truly an underrated one.

I’ve tried several boba shops in the Bay Area and this one has really good teas and toppings that are more niche (peach gum, tea jelly, etc). My personal favorite is the peach gum milk tea with black tea. It is so creamy with a nice tea taste, and I love the toppings it comes with.

The price is great and the cup is a good size. Disclaimer: drinks take time to prepare bc it’s family owned so be
patient. Give it a try, it’s great!

Like others have been saying — hands down the best boba / tea shop in Oakland Chinatown, using actual teas, fruits and herbs instead of powders. Great selection of loose leaf teas as well (inquire at the counter about shopping for loose leaf tea next door). Love the owner as well and the opportunity to support a small business instead of a chain ~

Ordered 3 drinks, all terrible. Roosted oolong milk tea, oolong crema, and jasmine milk tea. For a place that has an actual tea shop selling leaves, their drinks barely taste like tea and just watered down. The only thing that was decent was their egg puff. The people who gave this place 5 stars have no taste.

Tasty and affordable tea shop! Definitely can appreciate the variety and the freshness of the tea. We ordered the Mango Sago, Hong Kong Style Tea and the Dragon Well Tea with Pudding & Grass Jelly. All taste great and would come back!

Didn't have enough people working so when I went in to shop for loose leaf tea, person at the counter didn't acknowledge me. I patiently waited and watched him approach 3x before I said hello and let him know I wanted to buy tea.

He said I'd have to give them a minute. I waited an additional 5 minutes before just leaving.

I get it, things are chaotic and tight right now but honestly, if you're going to have both businesses attached but you have to go into one, come back outside just to be escorted into the room next door, you should try to have enough people for that.

Every time I pass this seems to be the case. I couldn't understand if they were making orders for the two individuals inside or online or what. There wasn't any communication or indication on when exactly they would've been able to help me since they have an ordering kiosk on top of all of this.

Love their boba tea. This is the only place I get mine.

Very slow service. Their cups are tall but very skinny, so it’s probably the equivalent of small. Note they’ve moved a couple doors down from their original location.

Wait was supposed to be 5 min. 20 min later I am still here because they lost the order or something.

I’ve definitely been gatekeeping this place for too long and i want it to do well so here goes my review! BEST BOBA /TEA IN OAKLAND!

You know the tea is good when it literally has a tea leaf shop. All the drinks are made with the same tea leaves from the tea shop which makes this place so special. Prices are still reasonable (but even if they raise it I won’t be mad). I usually get their dragonwell milk tea and finally ventured into a pineapple fruit tea and it was just as delightful. Menu is massive but I doubt you can go wrong with anything.

They also serve cute Hong Kong style street snacks like curry fishballs and fish siu mai as well as rice noodle rolls in sauce. I got a drink, noodles and siu mai today and it was $18 with tip.

Cannot praise this place enough! The only somewhat downside is that it can take a while for your drink to be made but I like to believe it’s because they brew each drink with fresh tea leaves, none of that instant powder or pre brewed large batch of tea!

If you care about the “tea” part of milk tea, go here. Store is two parts: boba shop and loose leaf tea shop.

Boba shop: huge selection of many different teas as well as flavors/cremas etc. my favorite part is that you can ask what tea they use in the drink and they will tell you what it is. This place is a dream. Prices are reasonable (~$5-6). It’s my favorite way to try new teas.

Their loose leaf selection is enormous, particularly for tieguanyin and puer. Not to mention they do sell teapots and other tea accessories. My favorite tea is their Strong Aroma Tieguanyin, which is also the tea used in their Tieguanyin Crema in the boba shop.
