Wow wow wow wow wow, awesome fried catfish! The outside is perfectly flakey and the fish inside is nice and moist. It's also not very oily but still packs all the flavor and juice. The fried chicken is good, but that fish is killer. I had the creole fried rice and it was packed with a ton of flavor but was a bit too salty. Otherwise it was perfect. Yes the place is a bit run down, but hey I'm here for the food first and the food is the bomb. They freshly fry their stuff so I would call ahead and just pick up to avoid a wait (which is good news for you to avoid drying up under a heat lamp in other establishments). I'll be back very soon. A $15 donation plate is honestly enough for two modestly hungry people.

At first, I couldn't find this place because it still had the former taqueria sign up. However, it's the only thing here so after a Uturn, arrived. The food was so good, but be aware, there isn't a lot of seating inside. The chicken batter wasn't too spicy and the catfish was perfectly flaky. The brown sugar lemonade was good (and I want to add tequila next time). There's no frills but plenty of friendly staff and street parking (no lot). Wondering if they will even cater an event! Too bad not open after hours, I bet it would be great after hitting the bars.

Well seasoned. Oysters and snapper fried to perfection. There are tables, better for take out.

Great foods. Great customer service, but they had no sweets the day I was there.

I've been here 3 times total and it was great everytime! I get the catfish and prawn combo with fries everything is seasoned to perfection and very fresh. Not a place to dine in and the parking is very limited.

Omggg!! I have an obsession with fried chicken (i get random cravings all the time!) I also love watching Chopped so when a coworker mentioned this place, which is owned by one of Chopped's winner, I had to try it! And I'm sooo glad I did! The food was delicious I had the chicken tenders with shrimp and Mac and cheese and everything was amazing. It's a very small place with no real siting area, but the food is and it's black owned as well

The sandwich I got today had one PC of fish. I Actually look in the bottom of the bag to make sure some more fish didn't fall off the sandwich the greens were good so I'm giving them 3 stars for the greens and what I could taste the sandwich was OK but for $13 the value and my expectations were not met

Always crispy, always fresh. It takes a minute but always worth the wait. Collards are best Mac n cheese in town. The lady behind the counter is always sweet. I'm drooling while waiting for my order!

I got the $13 chicken sandwich & fries. The sandwich was so small I thought they made a mistake. They didn't. It's a single chicken strip, with a piece of white bread toasted and folded in half, with some pickles and slaw. The fries were a small portion, totally soggy - they seemed like they'd have been excellent if they were cooked with a bit of crispiness.

I came to Grammie's after reading about this new establishment in a local publication and because the name spoke to me. I missed having a chicken and seafood joint in my neighborhood so I was eager to try it. What the interior of the eatery lacked in tables and chairs and decor, the woman who took my order almost made up for it by radiating cheerfulness and charm. She was very helpful in answering questions about the posted menu. After a wait my takeout order arrived and once I sat down at my own dining table my taste buds were satisfied by the meal of fried catfish and French fried potatoes which included a pancake-shaped savory bread that had a hint of cornmeal in it. Everything was tasty, though I prefer my catfish to be crunchier. Since this was just my first order at Grammie's I plan to return to sample other items on the menu and determine if I will add another star to my rating.

This little hole-in-the-wall has some solid eats for around $10. Best fried catfish in Oakland! Cooks and staff are courteous. I eat here whenever I'm in the neighborhood. A local favorite!

Great idea well executed!! They are new so the space will be renovated. The people, food and vibe of the place are spot on!! When you're ready to feed your soul this is the spot!!
