Hanshin Pocha is a late-night Korean spot in Oakland, perfect for after time at Lake Merrit or satisfying K-drama cravings. The atmosphere is chill, cozy, and lively with awesome K-pop music, warm lighting, and late-night vibes. Service is fast and kind; one staff member brought lemon with a kind smile for soju. The food is hot, delicious, and palatable. Must-try meals include galbi, spicy pork with cheese, sweet and spicy boneless chicken, japchae, and Korean Fried Chicken that is crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Other favorites are Clam Soup with a light yet flavorful broth, Fried Whole Chicken that is tender and full of flavor, Sizzling Squid on Hot Plate, Army Stew (Budae Jjigae) loaded with ramen and spam, Spicy Marinated Crab, Hanshin Dakbal, Beef Soft of Jjigae, and DIY Rice Ball. The grape soda is a must. Portions are huge; one meal fed two whole meals. The first time, the chef gave free samples of Jumeok-bap, which was the best ever. It is a bit more expensive than LA K-town but worth it. It will always be the to-go Korean restaurant in Oakland.
