It is one happy place for the kids. The zoo is fantastic and they have wide variety of species. There is some other sort of entertainment as well like rides. I would recommend that one should take an yearly pass that is cost effective. Rest, you get to see the city view, which is an addition to it.

highly recommend visiting oakland zoo if you have to choose between this and SF's! the enclosures are wide and varied. don't forget to get on the gondola to check out the rest of the zoo on the hilltop, where you also get a great view of oakland :) you should buy tickets in advance if you're visiting too, which are easily acquired on their website.

We love the Oakland zoo. We visit there almost every year since my daughters were 3 and 1 and now they are 11 and 9 and still love going there. It's great for all age groups. We have had a great time as adults there too. The only complaint I may have is that the zoo is becoming more and more popular and the crowd is increasing. The lines for the gondolas are insane now.

We went on 3/2/24. We definitely enjoyed ourselves but every single snack kiosk we went to was closed which was super weird. We definitely needed snacks and would have spent $ as it was 4 of us. We actually left earlier than we should have because of that.

I never write reviews but the fact that the gondola is free is in itself worth 5 stars

Certainly! HerVisiting Oakland Zoo was a delightful experience for my family and me. The variety of animals and interactive exhibits kept us entertained throughout our visit. The well-maintained facilities and knowledgeable staff added to the overall pleasant atmosphere. However, we did encounter some crowded areas, which slightly detracted from the experience. Overall, Oakland Zoo is a great destination for a fun day out with the family.

Great place to interact and learn about animals and the world. It's enjoyable to walk through the different regions they've set up to teach people about the environment and multiple habitats.Plus Glowfari - absolutely love walking through glowfari at night!

Any chance we get we try to go visit Oakland Zoo. We appreciate how well maintained the property is, and love supporting their mission to care for their animals. We were able to get tickets for our whole party of 7 last minute for a Sunday, right before they closed the gondola for maintenance. We took the gondola up to Landing Café for a quick bite. The food was great and I’d recommend eating there, but I’d bring my own water and also pass on the coffee. It was a little bit rainy that day but we saw many animals seeming to hang out in the rain or play around in it. Others were seeking shelter, but it was amazing seeing a mountain lion so close!

Oakland Zoo is a great place to visit at any time. They have a wide variety of species. I applaud their conservation work and how well they take care of the animals. I like coming here for walks, so I got myself the year membership. It is always clean and entertaining to come to this place. I love the gibbons and other primates. I recommend this place for a visit! It's worth coming here. I'm thinking of doing a school field trip with my students if it's possible.

This place was huge. We spent 4 hours there and still couldn't manage to see everything. There is a gondola and a skyride and a train. The train was about 15 minutes looped, mainly for the kids. The gondola was about 5 to 10 minutes to the top with a little restaurant and kid interactive museum. The skyride was about 20 minutes in a loop looking over about 7 or 8 different enclosures. They had dipindots stands. It was an overall really cool place. It was rated best out of the 3 big zoos in the area, and it's plain to see why. Very clean, too. The parking was a little scarce, so if you're not able to walk long distances, then this would probably not be a good choice. We definitely got out steps in.

The zoo was fun as usual for my 3 year old. This has been the 3rd time going. The area up on the hill side yet nice the animals up there don't hardly come out of there holes. 3rd time now and have only seen the eagles and wolf on the hill. As for the lower... amazing. The bug center could definitely use a window cleaning ( we were the 1st ones there in the morning).
