One of the best taquerias in Oakland. Their horchata is sooo good and I usually order a quesadilla there meat has so much flavor ! Man oh man there tortilla chips always taste so fresh. Lightly salted to perfection. Definitely should give them a try !

Fantastic experience here at La Calaca Loca Taqueria. I have a serious allergy to raw onions and Kevin was awesome, making my taco salad himself. The lettuce/onions/tomatoes is pre-mixed so he made my salad with these ingredients he chopped himself. I am so appreciative bc it's so difficult to find a great Mexican place that will happily accommodate me. A MUST stop!

I ate there on 3/28/25 and got food poisoning.. I was vomiting, had severe diarrhea, fever, (I was fully clothed last night, with long johns and a hoodie, under my covers and was freezing).. I woke up today 3/29/25 feeling like I had a hangover, and I'm 3 & 1/2 years sober.. I'm just now starting to feel better, over 24 hours after eating the food.. I think they're mixing meat from previous days with the meat they cook that day, which is disgusting
Edit. I spoke to soon, today is Tuesday, April 1st, 2025 and my symptoms haven't gotten better.. I'm now in the emergency room because of what I ate there

So fun to say :) Everyone who works there is kind and friendly and if you ever need a bit of catering, THIS IS THE PLACE !! Sure, they went above and beyond to be more sustainable and plastic landfill conscious, but the food? My staff from all over Oakland, Richmond and El Sobrante were impressed by the distinct flavors and offerings…it was the perfect introduction to the Temescal neighborhood!! Highlights: restrained, piquant cheese mushroom quesadillas; just-done perfectly cooked shrimp; crispy Baja fish anything; sublime ensaladas; and try blending fresh agua frescas!!
