I’ve eaten here several times and have always planned to come early. My go to order is their chicken and waffle. I also love their biscuits. I love breakfast and when I crave for a specific chicken and waffle, this place always comes to mind. I don’t live close enough so I don’t get to eat here as often as I would like but I will drive for good food 😋

Amazing Place, Heart of the Town, North Oakland/Berkeley. They Really treat you with Love and Care, the food is Phenomenal and heartwarming. Best Chicken around(check out that seasoning blend, makes the chicken a true redbone) You really feel like you're in someone's beautiful home. One of the last true local spots that let you experience all generations of Oakland and the Menu's off the hook! Go now, what r you waiting 4?

Plan to spend time here, definitely not fast food, but worth the wait.

Went to Lois The Pie Queen for breakfast and everything was amazing! The standout dishes for me were the potato pie cheesecake and the vegetable omelette, which paired perfectly with their homemade biscuits. Highly recommend – we’ll definitely be back!

Lois the Pie Queen – Comfort-Food Royalty in Oakland

Walk through the door and you’re wrapped in warmth: Motown on the speakers, family photos on the walls, staff who greet you like you’ve been coming for years. I ordered the steak-and-eggs and it was flawless—juicy, pepper-kissed steak cooked exactly medium-rare, cloud-soft scrambled eggs, and hash browns crisp enough to crackle. Classic done right.

Even after demolishing that plate I couldn’t leave without something sweet, so I grabbed their banana-crème pudding. Silky custard, real banana slices, vanilla wafer halo—basically childhood nostalgia upgraded. One spoonful erased any regret about skipping pie this round.

Best part? Every dollar here supports a proud, long-standing Black-owned business that pours love back into the neighborhood. You walk out full in every sense—belly, heart, and community pride.

Bottom line: Come hungry, stay cozy, and don’t sleep on the banana-crème pudding. Lois the Pie Queen is the kind of place that keeps Oakland’s soul shining. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Bad coffee and peach cobbler was the worst I've ever had. The place looks nothing like the pictures. Super run down. Old can be charming. This isn't charming it's just broken. The French toast with fruit was good. Friendly staff. I think this is the first time in my entire life that I didn't finish peach cobbler.

The waitress was rude and always on the phone,
The pork chops, coffee and hash browns were horrible.
I would've gave it a thumbs up , But the cook had attitude too! I really thought my Aunt and I wou

Lois the Pie Queen is one of those spots that just feels like Oakland. The food is always on point—every single thing I’ve tried has been fire. It’s one of my go-to places, and any time I have people visiting from out of town, I make sure they eat here at least once.

Lately I’ve been on a low-sodium diet, and when I asked if they could make some adjustments, they didn’t just say yes…they actually made it taste good. That meant a lot. It’s rare to find a place that doesn’t just feed you but really looks out for you too.

This spot is the real deal. Good people. Great food. Always worth it.

Love this place. It’s been a staple in North Oakland for years. The food is always good and freshly prepared. The wall of fame is also nice showing all the legends and owner Chris. The inside is definitely old school and is due for a refreshing but it’s definitely a go to place. Those biscuits are yummy.

I should have done myself a favor and come here sooner. After 3 years of living in Oakland I finally visited Lois the Pie Queen on Juneteenth and absolutely enjoyed it. I am so glad they are here and hope they continue to triumph for decades to come. The crunchiest, juiciest, and most flavorful chicken I have had in a while. 😋

Update: I returned and got their sweet potato pie slice and it was the worst sweet potato pie I've ever had in my life. The filling had the consistency of vomit and the crust was severely undercooked.
