Bad coffee and peach cobbler was the worst I've ever had. The place looks nothing like the pictures. Super run down. Old can be charming. This isn't charming it's just broken. The French toast with fruit was good. Friendly staff. I think this is the first time in my entire life that I didn't finish peach cobbler.
The waitress was rude and always on the phone,
The pork chops, coffee and hash browns were horrible.
I would've gave it a thumbs up , But the cook had attitude too! I really thought my Aunt and I wou
Lois the Pie Queen is one of those spots that just feels like Oakland. The food is always on point—every single thing I’ve tried has been fire. It’s one of my go-to places, and any time I have people visiting from out of town, I make sure they eat here at least once.
Lately I’ve been on a low-sodium diet, and when I asked if they could make some adjustments, they didn’t just say yes…they actually made it taste good. That meant a lot. It’s rare to find a place that doesn’t just feed you but really looks out for you too.
This spot is the real deal. Good people. Great food. Always worth it.
Love this place. It’s been a staple in North Oakland for years. The food is always good and freshly prepared. The wall of fame is also nice showing all the legends and owner Chris. The inside is definitely old school and is due for a refreshing but it’s definitely a go to place. Those biscuits are yummy.
What time is dinner served if you close in the afternoon?
Excellent service food Delicious
I should have done myself a favor and come here sooner. After 3 years of living in Oakland I finally visited Lois the Pie Queen on Juneteenth and absolutely enjoyed it. I am so glad they are here and hope they continue to triumph for decades to come. The crunchiest, juiciest, and most flavorful chicken I have had in a while. 😋
Update: I returned and got their sweet potato pie slice and it was the worst sweet potato pie I've ever had in my life. The filling had the consistency of vomit and the crust was severely undercooked.
Slow Cold food and frozen food confirmed by waitress and ignoring food for 10 hole minutes
Stopped here for lunch but had breakfast instead. Chicken and Waffles were delicious. Also the best collard greens I have ever tasted.
Amazing staple in the community. I always recommend it for friends and family visiting who want to see a bit of authentic Oakland. Just remember to bring cash.
Restaurantji Recommends
We had the chicken and waffles and the Reggie Jackson. Both were tender, crunchy, and delicious. Bring your appetite - the portions are big. The staff was awesome and crushed it during the morning rush. AAA+++
Cashless. Accepts Cashapp & Venmo only
Been a fair few years since my last visit, but Lois the Pie Queen continues to be a landmark & must-hit establishment. The Southern Fried Chicken breakfast special isn't cheap, but for the hefty portion is well worth(I recommend dark meat, especially!). The place is filled with photos and mementos of community & well-known figures as well.
All of the food is great, staff is friendly and attentive, and the pies - fantastic! Cannot recommend enough.
One of the best down-home restaurants in Oakland just like going to a relative house for chicken and waffles friendly service lovely atmosphere great music if you're in the area stop in and have some great food, We will be going back..
I love this place! Classic Black neighborhood diner. Old-school lunch counter and tables and pie case. The main wall is adorned with Black history and the restaurants legacy, great conversation for dining. The chicken is 👍🏿, service was adequate and quick.
