Tamaleria Azteca Reviews
We had the tamales—chicken, pork, cheese and the sweet corn one. All of them tasted great and were pretty generously sized. The red and green salsas were all obviously hand made with some love. I also noticed that the masa used had a pleasantly light, moist quality to it—it wasn’t dense and dry. You just gotta respect the hell out of a place that can serve up a hearty, nutritious packet of goodness like this for around $3.
The best tamales in the east bay!
Thick masa, little filling. Tasty.

Tamaleria Azteca offers solid tamales with a variety of fillings, including pork, chicken, and vegetarian options. The workers are responsive and kind, providing good value and generous portion sizes. Customers praise the excellent masa and flavorful fillings, despite the small, unassuming location. Many reviews highlight the delicious, hot, and moist tamales that are quickly prepared at the window. The restaurant also makes vegetarian tamales without lard, which are stewed in a flavorful red sauce, making them especially tasty. The salsa served alongside is described as perfect with a pleasant kick. Customers have noted the veggie tamales are filled with frozen or canned veg mix, but the flavorful sauce elevates them. The place is a favorite for a quick, satisfying meal, with some visiting on Sundays and finding it open, contrary to online listings. Overall, Tamaleria Azteca is known for hearty, homemade tamales and friendly service, making it a go-to spot for many in the area.
