Curbside tamales in Berkeley. Tasty, small menu, fresh but when they’re gone they’re gone.

I really wanted to love these tamales; however, they were very bland. There was no spice whatsoever. I ordered chicken, pork, and cheese. They’re big tamales but there is way too much masa and not enough meat or cheese. The salsa was the best item.

On this holiday weekend traversing the Oakland hills and flatlands of Berkeley, enroute to destinations planned and discovered, this planned stop proved more credible the food reviews Tamaleria Azteca garned from the SF Chronicle. I bought six for a Jackson. Mostly a order and go venue though you could eat on the outside counter. Across is a bus stop where on this day, a bus traveler stood in the counter area making it "feel" crowded.Myself and another tamal foodie were the only other people ordering.

The food is incredible! Service is quick and easy. We ordered their "Special" which came with a side of rice and beans and your choice of any, one tamale. (I got chicken and my husband got pork.) The beans were delicious, the rice was ok, and everything else was so YUMMY! PLEASE, give this place a chance! Definitely coming back!

The great tamales!! Sure no sit in or table service. Just a window on market street, Stop any time they are open for handmade fresh tamales. Easy street park and fast as cash on the counter you go with the goods. Cheese jalapeno are the bomb. They also have non lard vegetable. See you thereVegetarian options: Yes no lard option tamaleKid-friendliness: Plenty of room for kidsParking: Always a spot aroundWheelchair accessibility: Order from sidewalk and take delivery, easy.

I'm going to say what everyone is afraid to say out loud: most tamales suck. They're hockey pucks packed into cute little corn husks, and we're all supposed to marvel and pretend like we aren't eating corn-flavored sand. Don't even talk to me if you buy frozen tamale bricks from a store like Whole Foods or Trader Joes. Make your way to Tamaleria Azteca instead. They have the art of the tamale dialed in, and the masa is oh-so soft and tender. It doesn't really matter which filling you buy because it's all about the masa.$10 for 3 gigantic tamales. Go. There. Now.

This place is exactly what I'm looking after biking around on a beautiful Saturday. It is probably what you think of when you hear the phrase hole in the wall. It's small and unassuming, you can only get the food to go, and you better be okay eating in/on your car or finding a bench somewhere (we used the bus stop bench). I had the three tamales for $10 (two chicken and one cheese). The flavors were great, the accompanying salsa in a bag was sketchy (in the sense that it was difficult to deal with on a small bench with a bunch of wind), but it added a nice touch to the food, and the overall vibe is something I can appreciate. It's cheap and delicious, definitely come through and try them out if you're craving tamales or would like to try them!

Their music during the day is too loud and they don't turn it off. Owner not responsive to request to turn down the music. Tamales not so great.

Some of the best tamales in the Bay Area are sold out of this storefront that's been operating for more than 30 years. There's a reason people make the trek to this shop; the tamales are fantastic. There wasn't much selection by the time I arrived, but what I had was divine.

Super delicious tamales, they also serve other food: burritos, tacos, etc... easy to miss but hard to pass up once you've had them.Friendly service, cheap prices, great quality. 10/10

I love little places like this. This place has community but also is also very willing to serve to those outside their community. AwwwTamales are the thing here and they are goodTry the sweet cornTortas and rice and beans looked absolutely amazing. During the rush of the day they bring out the plancha and prep table and start frying up goodies right there on the street. Street food at its finest. They have soda and a few other notable options
