Ordered taro cake for friend's birthday. Cake sponge was a bit dry but very fluffy. $35 for a 9 inch cake. Curry buns were fluffy but on the sweet side.

One of the best if not the best Chinese bakery in the Bay Area (there is some bias because I've been eating their pastries since I was a kid). Very efficient and cash only as others have already mentioned. Their pineapple buns are great and I like to order their cocktail buns and paper wrapped cakes too.

It has been my usual grab-and-go spot for years, whether for breakfast, afternoon snack, or office treat. The best value in Oakland Chinatown I could find in terms of price and quality as comparing with other bakeries nearby.

This specifically is for cha sil bao ( BBQ pork buns). These are of the baked variety as compared to the steamed ones. The quality is good enough. The prices have risen in this inflationary environment to $2 each. They are still warm when I bought two boxes each of eight. These also freeze well at home. I've been coming here for years. The don tarts ( egg custard ) are good too! Sorry I don't have a pic as they didn't survive the ride home very well in the trunk of my car.

This bakery is the spot for all of your Chinese pastries, breads and cakes. It's CASH ONLY, so don't mess up and forget to bring cash. You'll need it. It's located right next to Oakland Chinese school, you'll see a lot of cars double park for drop offs n getting pastries for breakfast/lunch. We often walk to the bakery after eating in Chinatown. Due to this economy, inflation, the price of each pastries went up a lot. A Dan tart costs $1.50 each now, before it was cheaper. Even the chicken tail bao costs over $1 now, it was like $.50 pre COVID. Nevertheless, I still go to buy pastries for parties, office or myself. WHAT I ORDERED 20 mini bolo bao ($2.75 for 5 mini) 6 Dan tart (came in a box of 6)

Short line just before noon on a Saturday. Such an assortment to choose from. I made a collection: - Cha Siu bread - big, soft, decent amount of filling - Egg Tart - flaky, soft center, classic - Cocktail Buns - always love this soft long finger shape, laced with sweetened coconut shreds - Coconut and dry milk roll - this was gigantic, a little on the dry side if it wasn't touching the inner roll section. Could've skipped this. -Pineapple bun with custard- probably our favorite. Sweet, flaky top and filled with a not too sweet custard. Definitely would come back. Bring cash. Love the seniors sitting at a side table folding pink boxes.

The pineapple buns are soft and the egg tarts are flaky. Best bakery in Oakland Chinatown. In my opinion, it is better than Napoleon.
