The Dumplings are amazing!
We got the siu mai, steamed pork bao, steamed egg yolk custard bao, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, and turnip cakes. Everything was so delicious, best turnip cakes I’ve had in years. Staff was great, prices very reasonable. I was starving coming in and left so full and happy for about $16 + a well-deserved tip. We were really excited to find a new go-to spot, will definitely be back soon.
A friend of ours told us to try this place, and since we were passing by, why not.
We had to wait outside for about 10 minutes since the place was already packed. Service was quick and the food came out piping hot. The menu was quite extensive. We settled for 10 dishes.
Our absolute favorites were the Snowy Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Beef Tripe, and the fresh Roll Noodle with Shrimp. Honestly, everything was delicious, but our least favorite was the Salted Fish Clay Pot Rice....read full review

Ming's Tasty, located in Oakland Chinatown, is a humble restaurant known for its authentic dim sum experience. The food is excellent, with dishes like succulent shrimp dumplings, tasty siu mai, and turnip cake. The venue has a quaint atmosphere and is often busy, but the service remains friendly and efficient. Credit cards are accepted, making it convenient for customers. Many consider it a classic Chinese cafe where locals enjoy quality dim sum. The restaurant offers generous portions, and the atmosphere can be lively and loud during peak hours, but it soon becomes quiet and relaxed once the busy period passes. The inside is simple, with a couple of tables and minimal lighting that gives a cozy, Chinatown feel. Though the decor is basic and infrastructure has seen better days, the taste is what matters most. Popular dishes include the crispy shrimp Cheung Fun, which many say is the best item, offering a crispy, silky contrast. The siu mai is luscious with thin wrapping and fish roe, and the turnip cake is filling with good meat bits. The crispy shrimp rice noodle rolls are highly praised for their perfect texture. Service is friendly; staff often remember regular customers and even take out orders while they wait in their cars. Ming's Tasty is a reliable spot for delicious and affordable dim sum, especially if you go early or opt for takeout. The place is small and can get crowded later in the day, but the food makes it worth the visit.
