I can see why Ming's Tasty is a staple for Dim Sum in Oakland Chinatown. The dishes pull from the most important aspects of Chinese cooking, but fails to refine the flavors. I would feel good about frequenting this restaurant. Come early or face a line on the weekends.

Good price. Great service and food. Typical Dim sum. Don't expect table clothes on your tables.

My friend and I had a wonderful dim sum lunch here yesterday. We were both very pleased and will be back. We shared soup and several kinds of dumplings and everything was delicious.

I never would've gone in if a Chinatown local hadn't brought me. The facade isn't inviting and the interior could use an upgrade but the food was delicious and service was friendly. Definitely a memorable and authentic dim sum

Excellent dim sum joint in Oakland’s Chinatown. Recommend the wonton soup, snowy baked BBQ pork bun, shui mai, and har gow. There was a little wait for the table and food. Shared the table with a couple which was fun. No frills vibe but the food was excellent.

Favorite dim sum place!! Even for delivery the food was so fresh and well carefully packed. The kitchen respects their food! They left a hole in the fried stuff box so the vapor won’t affect the fried food texture, so considerate :DThe fried dim sum are still in perfect crispiness and warmth, especially the durian puff is just toooooo amazing ??? didn’t expect this amount of fresh durian meat in the stuffing. Also tried siu mei though I never liked siu mei in other places, but I absolutely recommend Ming’s siu mei it’s pretty good!

Absolute yes!!!The culinary experience at this establishment is unparalleled. The Chou chai dumplings with peanuts, pork and shrimp, stuffed eggplant on an iron plate, deep-fried meat dumplings, and dream frog clay pot rice were all exceptionally flavorful and mouthwatering. We also ordered the wonton soup because it’s a classic and we were craving something warm and soupy but I would recommend skipping it and making room for more dumplings. There were so many to choose from, I’ll have to order everything in the menu one day to taste each one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐However, the journey to the restroom was a bit disheartening. The hallway walls were nasty and stained, giving an off-putting vibe. ?️ A simple paint job could do wonders. The restroom itself needs attention—adding plants , some fragrance, and another coat of paint would elevate the overall experience.Despite this minor setback, my family and I will be returning for the outstanding cuisine. I urge the owners to consider improving the restroom area to match the excellence of their dining establishment. ?️

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Oakland. Food and kitchen are consistently good, sometimes verging on fantastic. Prices very good. Service very good, but remember some staff may have limited english skills. This is the kind of place where they remember you after you've been there a few times.I'm not at all surprised some reviewers felt this was the best dimsum they had found outside of Hong Kong.Portions are large, and they don't skimp. You can tell the quality of the kitchen because prawns are generally nearly perfectly cooked.Almost everything on menu is very good to excellent. Standouts: iron plate stuffed eggplant. Whatever you do don't leave any of the sauce!Sort of that perfect sweet spot between price quality and vibe/service only the food is much better than what you might expect from the exterior and interior, which are fairly functional.I really like the people who work there. I have no idea why any reviewer would complain about bad service. I've come here for years and have never seen them be less than polite and competent so take those reviews with huge grain of salt.Parking: It's Chinatown. Usually parking on 10th street in diagonal spaces. Or use parking structure nearby. Or walk from 12th street BART.Kid-friendliness: It's friendly. If kids know real Chinese food they will like it. If you are looking for Panda Express this is not for you. This is real Chinese food.Wheelchair accessibility: Flat to street.

This dim sum place only accept walk ins, no reservation. I was a little bit worry about the waiting time but it only took like 10 min on busy Saturday noon so it's not too bad. The service was good and food came out very quick. The price is much more reasonable than other dim sum place. 3 of us cost around $70. Parking is $4 in the building across the street. Overall dim sum are fresh and very good.
