I love Oakland Restaurant Week because I get to find gems like this. It's tucked away so I never knew it was there. Highly recommend checking this place out. From the minute I walked in, the host as so friendly. It was just starting to get busy so there was a nice buzz in the place. Not too loud but lively. I love Obelisco! This restaurant is the perfect place if you want authentic Mexican food and delicious drinks. As someone with celiac, I feel very safe eating here! They do not put gluten in their frier so a lot of the options are actually gluten free. I highly recommend their cocount flan which is vegan and gf. Have fun!
This is definitely the Mexican restaurant to take International traveling friends / family who have never had Mexican food. Not your typical recombination of the same 8 to 10 that we see in most Mexican restaurants. Each dish is completely unique and has different sauces and flavor combinations.
