really wanted to like this place, but the experience was rough. The shop was absolutely packed, yet there was only one person handling everything—taking orders and making drinks. The result was chaos: extremely long waits, a stressed employee, and a line that barely moved.
This isn’t a knock on the woman working—she was clearly doing her best—but on management. It’s unfair to customers and to staff to run a busy coffee shop so severely understaffed. After waiting far longer than reasonable just to order, let alone get a drink, the whole experience felt avoidable and poorly managed.
Until staffing is improved during peak hours, I wouldn’t recommend coming here when it’s busy.

The best experience I’ve had in a coffee shop… ever. Came in this morning around 630 and the two girls working were absolutely amazing!! My friends and I had never been in and needed coffee before our hike, and we never will I go anywhere else again. They were kind, quick, and explained the menu so well. We’ve talked about how amazing the service and coffee was allllll day long

Shout out to Yessenia! She makes my coffee perfectly every morning(I’m a bit of a coffee addict). I frequent 4 different Philz locations and emeryville has been consistent 100% of the time. 🙌

I understand the issue with being understaffed. But waiting for almost 35 minutes for one coffee is a little ridiculous.
This review is for the staff serving on 20th Dec in the afternoon. Unpleasant service from the get go. Saw the cashier chat with customers before me but did not even respond to my greeting. A small coffee with no add-ons took 25 mins to prepare even after reminding them twice. Customers who ordered after me had already received their orders and had left. I’ve been to this store before when a different set of baristas were serving - it was a great experience.

This place has gone down hill with new employees. I used to come here without issue. Yessenia is useless behind the counter and rude toward customers. I ordered online, waited for almost an hour, reminded them they hadn’t made my order, waited 10 more minutes, and then finally left as they still hadn’t started it. So disappointing.
