Great food and vibe. We have missed Penrose, and this scratched that itch. Service was so so. (-1)

Consistently solid Italian local spot with good pizza, pasta, drinks, and appetizers. Service is usually pretty good but it was slower for our party who was the first in one and had two small kids for some reason tonight than all the other parties that were seated after us. We had to ask for drinks. Another server who wasn't assigned to our table gave us some bread because he knew we hadn't been served for some time and we appreciated that. Nice to know they have happy hour Sundays 5-6pm. Would encourage their staff to be mindful that customers arriving with young children usually have a time limit before the kids get hangry which tends to ruin everyone's dining experience so please don't slack on tables with kiddos!

Excellent first time experience The food was delightful and good selection of wines. My husband and I are already planning to be back. We enjoyed the PZ salad, the chicken milanese, ciopino, and canolies... very impressed. Not to forget good customer service.

Went on a Tuesday early evening and enjoyed the experience. We waited about 8 min for a table. Our margarita pizza took awhile to get, but when it came out it is very much Italian style. Very thin crust, not greasy at all and with the right amount of cheese. The unexpected surprise was ordering the asparagus with beets from the oven. It came out first and served as the perfect appetizer. Highly recommend. Tuesdays have half off certain bottles but we stuck with the house red which was solid. Great spot for families, meeting with friends for a casual dinner.

Gone the days of Charlie's creative pizzas and menu. Now it is mostly salty and overly salty pizzas and plates. The only positive thing is there are always new pizzerias in Berkeley and San Francisco.

Delicious food, 5 stars. Service a bit slow, but mostly pleasantly slow - don't go if you're in a rush or not with people you love. Did take a long time for drinks. Also pretty loud and can be hard to hear, but lovely tables and ambiance. Overall great option, one of the best in the area

Decent, but ultimately disappointing for the price. The menu is extremely limited. The ragu was not a ragu, no tomatoes and just chunks of pork in somewhat greasy sauce. Merely ok. The margarita pizza was also ok, but one slice did not have any cheese and the basil was burned. Our wait person was great, but I did not see one smile among the several other employees. Not a good sign. The bread was fantastic, though.

Great food. Fun atmosphere. Pizza and appetizers are outstanding! Reasonable prices. The courtyard is fun in the summer.

Fantastic restaurant and food. Great starters and pizzas, along with a great list of cocktails. Sit at the bar and be OK with a bit of a wait-- it's totally worth it.

Love pizzaiolo so much! The food is amazing and they are always bringing new ideas to the menu. We brought our 3 year old and they were accommodating - there were other families at the restaurant. I wish they did reservations more often!

We went on Valentine's Day and arrived when they were packed, especially with a lot of walk-in's. The hostesses handled it really well, we were seated within 15min or so. Service was generally good, but didn't get a chance to order another drink since the sever didn't come by very often. Food was excellent. Especially the pappardelle with pork ragu- highly recommend!
